  1. before you jump just make sure this is not just down to  a rich mixture washing the bores   whats on the boot lid,, black soot, oily deposits , whats the actual oil consumption , pete
  2. the main reason for the stripped threads is by fitting  too long  setscrews, these bottom out and a light nip pulls the threads, many repair with M8 or up to next unf .     this applies to the timing cover and the sump screws, If you do take the sump off on car ,  should you have difficulty getting a sump to clear the suction tube , you can get to the 3 oil pump bolts through the gap and unscrew to let the pump drop into the sump, all depends on pump / tube design and splash gauze aperture . Pete
  3. when its out its worth replacing the rubber olive on the  suction tube , unclip the reserve lever and unscrew the sleeve nut if any local reparer can cut the useless drian tube off and plate the base, you can fill the nasty hole in the boot floor, no more corrosion , and the tanks so easy to remove/ refit,   Pete
  4. we have done exactly the same in the past and agree its easy, just make sure the grove is clean and tap the clip fully home , you dont want one to pop out .   so you can now join the big clip antiknock brigade and guess you wont be the first to replace everything twice to no avail,, tis all part of the fun     Pete
  5. doesnt really matter but the slide release is shown towards the tunnel side the seat frames are the same part numbers  what is odd is the height /for/aft holes in the seat and slide base need to be offset to get the rear of the frame to drop onto the runners if you use the what seems obvious holes in alignment the seat will be angled and the tubes miss the runners at the back  if that makes sense    Pete
  6. I had hard ride at the back with a swinger on the vit6 caused lower ride ht and was  riding on the shocker bump stops so took 2 of the 3 out to get some travel but have now dumped the swinger for a courier unit 1" spacer and pair of spax,  result  ...  no roll   Peter
