  1. Agree, had mishaps with the copy aftermarket (cheaper) alloy caps in the past, flimsy and very easily bend the threads at the thought of overtightening.....  a genuine OEM Girling alloy cap required, much stronger and work but they are fairly expensive, plastic caps are about £10 and will be just as good as the OEM alloy caps. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GIRLING-CLUTCH-BRAKE-FLUID-RESEROIR-TANK-CAP-TOP-NEW-/140925866551?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20cfd61237
  2. Sorry to hear you doubt these Mann oil filters, but like Marcus says are you sure its the filter? Leave it for a few days and remove the filter, if its really light/empty check up the inside to make sure it actually does have the 2nd magic drain valve just above the threads, cant miss it,  and check the silicone membrane seal under the small holes for any defects. If its empty the filter is defective in some way. The Mann filters mentioned don't drain, they are designed for inverted use.
  3. After servicing an Iveco van with an inverted filter the other day, I noticed it held its oil when I removed the filter, there is a stack pipe inside the filter and it works very well as to drain the old filter for recycling I had to poke the rubber/silicone ADV with a screwdriver to get all the oil out of the old filter. Iveco use M22 thread filters but got me thinking.....! I am looking into a snippet of info off a forum on a Mann W 940/24 with the same dimensions/thread of the W 724/1 but instead of x2 anti drain valves uses one ADV and an internal stack pipe that hold the oil in the filter like this: My local filter outlet is Andrew Page who are Mann dealers so hoping to get a look at one very soon......( again the W 940/24 is also very cheap from MRAUTO at around £3 delivered http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/search_s_refoem_%20W%20940/24.html ) I know the Baldwin BT215 filter has a stack pipe fitted and is exactly the same as the Mann W 724/1 size and 3/4 thread and the Mann matches the cross reference numbers for the Baldwin filter. Headache looming but I wonder if there are any other makes of standard 5/8 thread oil filters with stack pipes fitted as this will help oil pressure build up from cold without doubt and no adapter needed (for the 4 cylinder engines).
  4. Sheepy.... I have sent them an email mate to see when they will be back in stock, will let you know what they say. Steve P.... Good arnt they..! hypoid53.... Let us know what you think when you get it fitted...
  5. Now unavailable again at Mr Auto..... I bet they are wondering why the 1980's Ford 1.6 diesel oil filter sales are going through the roof 😀 😀
  6. W 724/1 back in stock chaps, i just ordered another two for total £5.42 delivered to my door.
  7. Second the dual gauge, very accurate and instant water temp (measured in boiling pan of water before installing)  and convenient oil pressure all in one hole. The bulb wont fall off unless its been damaged at some point. its a well made Smiths instrument. Preserving the dash was my thoughts so haven't molested it, heres mine: ferny wrote: 50-60lb (think the book says 40-60?) at 50mph and 10-20lb on hot tick over. Not like my engine which gives about 30lb at 50mph if you're lucky and flashing disco lights at tick over...  :B ;D  ;D Yep that oil pressure quoted is about what I get with 20/50 VR1 , (a lot less when hot with Comma Sonic, a bit like petes  :-/ )

  9. ferny wrote:Just saw your edit. Nope, they're all 1.3lt. But the problem with that Ballade radiator is that it doesn't have the automatic gearbox cooler. I'm trying to find dimensions for Toyota Avensis 1.6/1.8 vvti 2003-2007 and a better picture. It look like the filler is blanked off. If it isn't it won't match the plumbing! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-AVENSIS-1-6-1-8-VVTI-2003-2007-BRAND-NEW-AUTOMATIC-RADIATOR-/221354362253?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3389bf858d Sorry getting wires crossed, I thought they did a 1500. I see what you mean, this is the ballade rad without the gearbox fittings:
  10. Different size than I found ferny, that's for a 1300 yours is a 1500....doh..!
  11. 14. Ze Frawnce sellair has non more dans la W 724/1 flavour....Sacrebleu...! http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/search_s_refoem_W%20724/1.html BTW if you use the code FILTER10 you will get another 10% discount from Mr Auto IF they get any more, but atm they do stock the others on the list and still very reasonable
  15. The pickup ring you put on the dizzy shaft has to be perfectly in line with the sensor, mine fired on two at first...! i used a rubber 'o' ring for the perfect position and to stop it slipping down the shaft when warm. My old points etc have been in the boot since fitting 3.5 years ago. ;) Also i added some heat paste Artic silver 3, the same as used on a CPU on a home computer between the cpu and the heat sink on the sensor to the dizzy plate as recommended by Britpart as they are heat sensitive. ( yours is exactly the same as the Britpart unit BTW just marketed as more expensive) one thing to note is the wires can catch the rotor arm or dizzy cam, make sure its well clear, looks like you have that sorted
  16. No you haven't you little tinker you........ Go on......you know you want to.... 8)
  17. I accidently met a chap whilst buying some triumph bits who had several grass track and stock cars placed around his outside paddock area and he swears by these solar panels for keeping his batteries topped up, he used waterproof solar panels just placed on the dash connected via crocodile clips to the batteries. Every car was open to the elements. Each one was ready to go at any race meeting no matter how long its been stood. Good enough for me and no seagulls required. :)
  18. well done chaps and they really are good filters for what we need. Thinking of getting some stickers made up, you know like the drifters and cruisers have on the doors........how about: But then again.........ermmm (think) maybe not  (mad)
  19. Yeah I think that's were I had mine done M....!!   :o Looked like it afterwards, bowling balls comes to mind  ;D
  20. Considered a conditioner but opted for one of these 4w solar panel chargers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-Volt-Solar-Panel-Trickle-Car-Battery-Charger-Bait-Boat-Caravan-/111265436819?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item19e7efd493 Extended the lead from the panels to the cig lighter so its in daylight inside the house in a wndow, used it for the past 3 years and keeps the battery topped up just nicely, even in our UK weather.
  21. I just put "ball suspension" in a 'google image' search..........I wish i hadn't..... ??)
  22. Nice one Tony...(ok) You will be impressed....
