  1. I've got twin a twin HS2 setup on my 1200 convertible, and it does give a bit more top end power than my 12/50. It's not a huge difference though and I don't really miss the power when driving the 12/50. Fuel economy is better with the 12/50 which regularly returns mpg in the high 30s. The little Solex carb is really well matched to the standard engine and works well when everything is in good condition. Bear in mind that you'll need to tell your insurance company if you change the carbs. Either way you'll need a new exhaust, the twin carb and 12/50 setups both have the longer exhaust manifold with a larger flange. Keith
  2. I'm tempted to have a go again, it's either that or go to a beer festival on the Friday evening, I don't think trying to do both would be a good idea! Anyone know what the relevant car requirements of the MSA regulations are? Keith
  3. During the event-     Nothing failed apart from the glove box lock. Prior to the start-     Panic as I discovered a broken engine mount during a last minute check, big thanks to Dale for the mount and to Tim for the replacement for the hose that we broke while changing it. After the event-       Got home OK Monday, in the evening went out in the car, got half a mile down the road and got a puncture. Fixed that with a new tube, went out again today, got half a mile and it started misfiring and spluttered to a halt. Turned out to be a coil connection. On top of that the clutch is slipping, the tyres are worn out and the engine is getting more smoky. It seems to be behaving like the 'ideal' Colin Chapman racing car where everything fails at the end of the event! Keith
  4. I just to add my thanks to Ellis and the team for the organisation of the event. A huge task, not just the initial organisation but on top of that Ellis had to marshal us and keep the event on track while participating himself. Well done mate. Keith
  5. Photo album now open for uploads - http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/album/album.pl?album=10CR/10CR2013 Please use your normal forum login and password and it should all work. Well done to all who got round! Cheers, Keith 8)

  7. It should poll every minute, so could take a minute before the message appears. There's a 500kb limit on picture sizes, and most mobiles can produce images much bigger than that these days. I could up it a bit, but on the other hand people may be downloading on mobile devices with expensive data rates so keeping the image sizes down is a good thing. I'll have a loo into the specific problems above and pm the people concerned if I can work out what's going wrong. Keith
  8. Is now active - http://club.triumph.org.uk/10crnews Time for all those really interesting test messages to start  appearing! K ;)
  9. Anyone seen the parallel thread on the 2000/2500/2.5 board? http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl?m-1350986963/s-15/ Maybe the company mentioned could do a a Herald version that would be Ferny proof! 8) Keith
  10. But is it correct? I'm sure someone with a calculator and too much time on their hands will tell me! ;)
  11. Is the problem getting the nut undone? Wrapping an old fan belt around the pulley and clamping it in a vice is a good way of securing it while you undo it. Then undo the nut until it is flush with the end of the shaft to protect the threads and give it tap while holding the dynamo by the pulley. K
  12. Yep, connect up the battery as normal. Keith
  13. Camilla, The dynamo relies on residual magnetism to first generate enough voltage to activate the field coils and get it going. If it's polarised the wrong way it will generate positive instead of negative volts could cause damage when the cutout contact closes nad connects it to the battery. One simple way of doing it if you don't have any bits of wire handy is to connect up the field contact (smaller one) to the dynmo but leave the armature (big one) off, then take the lid of the control box and manually close the cutout contact for a few seconds, The cutout contact is the one with the steel loop over it, as opposed to the regulatin contact which is the one with the adjusting screw. 16. Thanks for reminding people about that Cook1e, it's an undocumented feature but useful one, if your mobile device adds a signature to the message that you can't get rid of just put 'EOM' at the end of message and the software will ignore everything fom that point. For historical reasons it is known as the 'Jason Filter'. Sorry about the typo in the roadbook, the address was meant to be rbrnews@club.triumph.org.uk not 10crnews, but both go to the same place so it doesn't matter really. K
  17. Alan, On mine the wires for the number plate lights go through the holes in the inner wings and them through the bumper iron holes in the rear valance. I can be certain that that is correct as the car has been rebuilt. The master light switch is the left hand switch on the column, do you have the correct wiring diagram? The works manual only shows the TR4 diagram which is different, the correct one can be found in the driver's manual i.e. the little glovebox book. Keith
  18. At least I might be able to get to the top without overheating today! K
  19. First job for me is to get the rad out for a re-core, then overhaul the fuel system! K
  20. Martin, Why are you posting these articles here when most of them are already available on the website in the 'Club Torque' section? http://club.triumph.org.uk/clubtorque/articles/nov03/toutesdirections.pdf http://club.triumph.org.uk/clubtorque/articles/jan04/10cr.pdf http://club.triumph.org.uk/members/clubtorque/articles/mar04/10cr.pdf Keith
