  1. Echo the above, big thanks to Mike and Andy who put a huge amount of effort into making it all happen. Sorry Andy couldn't be there  so that we could thank him person but I'm sure we'll get a chance in due course. Keith
  2. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't work Andy, what error message do you get? Anyone else having trouble? K
  3. I've started another thread in the members' section to enable participants to discuss specifics of the route without sharing them outside the Club. Sorry , link no longer available I can understand the organisers getting upset as they take on a lot of responsibility in organising an event like this. I'd suggest any overseas well wishers who want to support or view the event would be best off contacting the organisers directly. Keith
  4. Mike, another entry about to go in the post, or are you going tomorrow in which case I'll give it to you in person. Keith
  5. Something I'm looking at for the new website is location tagging and mapping of mobile uploaded content, images and MMS messages etc. Sadly we won't be on the new site by then, but 10CR may be a good opportunity to try some ideas and I hope to get some stuff running on the test site., if anyone would like to help test that drop me a pm. Cheers, Keith
  6. 1 The mainshaft is different, which means you will need to strip the box to change it before you can fit an overdrive to a non overdrive box. 2 Sorry, not for a Vit Keith
  7. Sorry to hear that Tim, afraid I can't really offer anything other than sympathy as I don't have any knowledge of any 2nd hand ones at the moment. The repro ones have been around for a few years now so should be a known quantity, not a cheap fix though! Keith
  8. That doesn't sound right Sam, is it located properly? Are you sure it's got the right countershaft in it? If it's a 3 synchro box with a 4 synchro shaft that might explain it. Keith
  9. I don't think there's an alternative to brute force, those bearings are pretty tough, I've never managed to damage one taking it off. If you can get a puller onto it that may be better than bashing it. Keith
  10. Good approach but your potential divider resistors are the wrong way round, you want R1 68 and R2 330 to get 1.5V. Keith
  11. I assume that there will be a hign quality roadbook produced for the event as the primary means of navigation, and that sat nav would only be used as a last resort if lost. K

    rear wings

I just use mastic, especially where the wing goes over the sill and is a real rot trap. Keith
  13. Thanks Dave, I managed to solder it up for now but will bear Wins in mind if it doesn't last. Keith
  14. Anyone know of a source for these, other than the expensive machined ones from Rimmers? Anyone got a non-rusty spare they don't need in North London group area? It's not for me but for my neighbour who has a laid up Sprint and will hopefully re-join the Club once it's running. :) Keith
  15. The car is Martin Cox's (Bristol marshall) Great pictures Theo! Sorry about the uploading faff. Keith
  16. Thanks for the pics Andy and sorry about the faff. It will get easier in the future. As for an app, who knows, website comes first though. I can do bulk uploads from a zipfile if that helps. Keith
  17. It does rather defeat the object, probably best not to go near the car at all, just to be on the safe side. ::)

But worst of all some people seem to just write a load of crap (mainly family members) I mean who wants to know how bored people are or about there bowl movements and that's the interesting bits. I'd rather go to a forum such as CT where like minded people interested in Triumphs can swap information and ideas and also have a bit of banter.  Maybe I just an old git. Good for you, us old gits should stick together. Let's have the interesting content on our site for posterity and not on some commercially run data hoover. Keith
  19. 7 minutes in the roadbook, took us 35 in reality. I doubt anyone was in the timing window at that point. I think it would be better if the book reflected the reality of Friday evening traffic here. I was sorely tempted to turn left and use the Cuffley - Goffs Oak route, but it just didn't seem right to 'cheat' at the first turn! Keith
  20. You need to in top really to be sure you're not hearing whine from 2nd gear. Could be the diff, if it's quiet on the drive side and just a slight whine on the overrun then I wouldn't worry too much. If it's knocking then that's something else! The pre-load on the pinion bearings tends to go as they wear but that can be restored by re-shimming. If you can feel any play at all in the pinion then they are well worn. Keith

Not quite sure in what way you think she misjudged her audience Richard, or what you think she should have said? Like Roger above I found the background very helpful in order to try and sell the charity to potential sponsors. Yes, the Sahara crossing thing was a bit of a sidetrack, but I don't mind listening to someone who has enthusiasm for their subject. Besides, we all know that to do it properly you need a Herald. ;) 1819 wrote: Just my opinion - no feedback, no improvement. R Fair enough
  23. Never used a sat-nav on the rbrr, I find them an irritated distraction and would only use one as a last resort. The route is straightforward enough when you've driven it 13 times! K
