  1. Doug sorry the motor has gone pop. Let me know if you want some more ooomph from another motor??? Chris.
  2. Blue swede!!! Start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oUEVrjSxS4 Queen the show must go on. Finish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHWLVxg8MxA I'll just try to make sure I'm wearing mens clothes when I cross the line. 19 days to go and the car isn't running. Really hope I make it this year. Chris. Chris.
  3. Yes i know that feeling, it happens more often than not on these little cars but fingers crossed you wont need to do it again for a wee while!! Chris.
  4. Blue, your back? What happened and how far along are you??? Can't wait to see the car. Get some photo's up. Did you keep the gt6 and mod it or did you get another spitfire??? Chris.
  5. I'm looking forward to seeing what is underneath. Chris.
  6. There are some that are designed so you can leave the nipple on. they are a small type and the nipple is missed when the joint moves through full motion. The ones that need removed are the longer type and you need to buy a plug. Did you pump it full of grease before it sheared???? If so then no point replacing it till it starts to knock. If you didn't grease it the you will need to remove it as ut wont last long without being pumped up with grease, in my opinion. Chris.
  7. You should be able to leave them in when they are the correct way round and they certainly arn't suppose to shear!!!. Chris.
  8. They do have a habbit of breaking though the early ones do. This is why most have been replaced with the later ones. Chris.
  9. Lovely bit of work mate!!! but explain this picture: Was the car a little worried about a resto??? or was all this water in the sills???? But very good job mate, she'll be a beauty once its done. Chris.
  10. Sorry totally wouldn't touch this car........... Well the steering wheels on the wrong side!!!! ;D There are some rust spots and areas that need touching up but it's not a bad car atall. I think the seller is just covering his back so there is no come back. Chris.
  11. Get some hub Adapters from a guy in America. Here is his old ebay listing for the Adaptors. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triumph-Spitfire-GT6-TR7-TR8-Lotus-Alloy-Wheel-Adapters-/230620025009?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b20650b1&vxp=mtr&item=230620025009&nma=true&si=cquO9i3V5L7yHgSNLZL4mv71iYo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Go to his shop and send him a message. These allow you to fit up to 15"x7j some have even fitted 16"x7J but they need the tub massaging slightly. Here is mine. and the adaptors. Make the car look the way you want it too. Chris.
  12. I noticed a big difference going from sealed beam to relayed H4. However an even better mod was getting the clear fronted H4 lamps and halfords extreme light bulbs. I dont need spot lamps now as the normal lights are great. Chris.
  13. Welcome Andy,                     I'm in Broxburn just outside Edinburgh. Best local place for parts and knowledge is CHIC DOIG SPORTS CARS near Lochgelly fife. My car is over there now getting body work sorted. There are always things to sort on these wee cars so enjoy. Chris.

  15. I would second ferny, Megajolt it. Almost same price as a Dizzy refurb by H&H who are very good but it's the other parts that connect to the dizzy that will let you down. Go MegaJolt and you will get more torque too. Chris.
  16. I used a Grounding kit on my spitfire both when it was metal and also now it's plastic. It improved things massively. Connected it from battery earth too..... 1. Alternator body 2. engine block 3. wiper motor (massive difference) 4.Front headlamp earthing point on chassis 5. horn earthing point. Made a big difference and only cost £15-£20 I think. You can choose the colour too. Chad bling anyone. The Kit Dark but fitted. Chris.
  17. I'm currently using Protech Shocks. They are light weight as they are ali and are front height adjustable as well and two stage damping adjustable. They cost a bit more than the above but are very good quality. Chris.
  18. The bounce test is done with the vehicle on its wheels on flat ground with all suspension settled. You simply push down hard on the corner you wish to test and it should bounce up and down one to two times from the one push. You can see if each bounce is more dampened and if it is then they are working. Chris.
  19. Wow car 115 hotel booked friday night! you must be really quick to finish by the Friday night or are you just preparing for a comfy break down. Ha Ha. Chris.
  20. Hi Colin,            I don't think any mods will happen to the tub. However if I keep the car then I will be looking at having making a rear opening hatch that can be retro fitted easily. Only time will tell. Chris.
  21. Well there is also the Vincent hurricane for top down motoring. They are also quite involved in the build details but alot less cash. Saying that I think the t6 cars will also sell for alot more when finished properly. Chris.

  23. New owner of T6 sent me some photo's of one of the first tubs he has made. Bonnet has much better shape than mine does. Fingers crossed he does a better job than Graham. Floor still to be added in but you get the Idea. It's alot of work and effort that goes into making these tubs and I'm really proud to own one. Just glad that Matt is enthusiastic about the whole thing. Chris.
  24. I would recommend Mike papworth. Don't know the other guy. Chris.
  25. I think the original ones were great but now the repro ones are crap with a number of issues from lever arm not hardened enough to seals melting in the ethanol. Huco is a the best. Bill has had his facet fail every two years. Chris.
