  1. Hopefully you will be able to return it to its former beauty.

    Engine ID

That is an 1147cc high compression engine from a Herald. Info courtesy of this site... http://www.triumphspitfire.com/enginenumbers.html
  3. It's a bit expensive but I'm sure it will scare off the wildlife 😁
  4. There's a good one on ebay... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234625947952?hash=item36a0cbd930:g:gc8AAOSw1E1i0nlK&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoF%2BpghInTazIv1w5fVg76geVtIO3DJaxRt%2FNdjRZ817snfy1fL65rL52F4qB0NsGPB4aXGM912Srk6ayW7cwP8vKT7kgmQDqH6V%2BNRQ15y1TzClYBV1gYlUJIHydjmM3VwKToEXuiztkfEirP9mFThi5ci6%2BNqIlBXzfSbjSAzJlKjJdxfDa1tr9du6Eeb67IPB%2BrEKR0Ze7fREWmMCQM8I%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7zs1fD8YA

    Best adhesive...

Same here, just make sure surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, degreased & any wax that might be there is removed. I use isopropyl alcohol for preparing the surfaces.
  6. It also won't grow back the same 😐 - voice of experience speaking. You've certainly got your work cut out getting that Herald ready for the RBRR. It gives me hope for getting my Spitfire ready...
  7. I've got tickets for Friday - club code applied 😊 will there be a kettle on the club stand? 😉
  8. Sorry, I made the assumption the 19mm OD was referring to an outer race dimension. I'll just go back to sleep 💤
  9. 19mm is 0.05mm (1.9 thou) smaller than 3/4". That gap would be easily taken up with a bearing retainer such as Loctite 638. Make sure the surfaces are completely clean and degreased before assembly.
  10. That's how all cars should be, they were built to be driven, not be trailer queens. Much like we are drivers, not passengers, which brings me back to the original post - drive for as long as you can, only stop when you're an MOT failure, you can then tinker in the garage until you pop off & then, like the MOT failure cars, you become spare parts yourself.
  11. @Rosbif you do have a rather nice looking car to be doing some accidental touring in.
  12. That could prove to be a bit tricky doing an unofficial 10CR...
  13. I've just bought one of these, not used it yet - that's a job set aside for a few weeks time. It doesn't appear to be made of cheese... https://amzn.eu/d/2zQrqos
  14. Be prepared & leave your passport in the car.
  15. It sounds like the perfect drive in the country. 😊
  16. I guess I'd better not enter, I struggle with most of them...
  17. Do it! You know you'll regret it if you don't.
  18. Canleys have them, I should imagine all the usual suspects do as well. https://www.canleyclassics.com/?product=overdrive-gearstick-knob&ptno=153515
  19. It was a good day, if anyone gets the opportunity to go I would recommend going.
