Alex
I'm thinking of getting a new slave cylinder for when I convert my mk1 to manual.I'm sure I can fit a slave from a series 3 land rover, but just to be sure can anyone confirm? Also can anyone confirm the part number?.....oh and what push rod will I need?At the moment I'm just gathering parts.I've got most bits in one form or another but just want to put it altogether right first time. Thanks, Alex
Richard B
Yep 2000 has a 7/8" slave and is the same as a Series III Landrover, except the LR one is in aluminium ;)The 2.5 one is 1" diameter....

Clutch felt better than it ever had before so it's still on there! There are two types, one with metric thread the other with imperial, obviously you want the latter. I bought it in error for the TR7 (that had metric threads!)I did keep the part no but it's not in the file - may be in the car somewhere, pm me if your deparate and I'll have a dig. Greeks
Check it doesn't have a bulbous end (ooh err) like the one I was sold did. Bloody pain in the arse (not a good metaphor that :o) that turned out to be as it wouldn't fit through the mounting bracket ??).
Glenn
If you're getting a Land Rover one Alex, check out http://www.paddockspares.com/ .OK - it's mainly Britpart aftermarket part they supply but they are as cheap as chips!! ;D

DJB_Harvey
All the Land rover ones are 7/8"...use a series 3 one as a direct replacement on 2000 and 2500 cars...vastly superior to the lockheed ones and a lot more reliable with a smoother operation...anyone requiring one PM me. slate
i recently fitted a aluminium bodied 7/8"cyl on my 2500 from witor apparently it gives longer pedal travel, it seems to work fine.
DJB_Harvey
Chris started using them on his own cars after he saw one on mine......eventually i let on what they came off ! Now its the only one he stocks and sells ! Just goes to show that even highly respected traders can learn something from us mere mortals !
