robche
Hi all.... I'm refitting my headlamps and need a new gasket that sits between the hooded chrome bezel and the body. robche
hm.. OK so the part I pointed to is actually the bowl sealing rubber (I have that)I have an additional rubber between the bowl and body - I'll try and get a picture.
Bitumen Boy
I know the part you mean. If they're not available I doubt they'd be hard to cut your own from sheet material.
robche
Cheers Dan I've just spent hours making gaskets for my sidelights out of neoprene foam but I can't find any rubber sheet. Needs to be about 4 mm thick looking at the old one, any ideas?
robche
I wonder if this would fit... ? http://www.racetorations.co.uk/triumph-c56/tr2-c3/tr2-electrical-instruments-c21/headlamp-cowl-seal-p898 or this.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Headlight-Rubber-GASKET-SEAL-for-1-side-on-Triumph-Herald-948-Saloon-1959-61/332255612319?hash=item4d5bfa4d9f:g:Ln4AAOSwDDxa7B7O
Paudman
Don't be misled by the pic in that lower eBay listing; it's actually two different seals - the bowl seal and the rim seal. You'll need to buy two sets.
Bitumen Boy
Quoted from robche- Cheers Dan I've just spent hours making gaskets for my sidelights out of neoprene foam but I can't find any rubber sheet. Needs to be about 4 mm thick looking at the old one, any ideas? Have a look on fleabay, I've often found it a good source of similar sheet materials in small quantities. marktheherald
I've just successfully done this.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MUO7RSC/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item cut out the centre hole after marking with dividers or similar. Mount the rim plate with the incomplete gasket to the bonnet then fit the chrome surround. use a white marker to show where to cut the outline. Dismantle, cut with sharp stanley knife and jobs a good 'un.

Scimher
How about using an old inner tube as rubber gasket material - some big vehicle tubes were of quite thick rubber...
