The IV/1500 Spitfire hardtop has two pairs of self tapping screws that attach the quarterlight hinges to the hardtop, each one screws into a square shaped captive thingy that presses into the hardtop. I need two of these, does anyone know where I can get some? Wouldn't have a bloody clue where to look...

Wim, its the things that 508566 screw into. If you took the captive square fixings out, you'd be left with a square shaped hole with nothing for the screw to go into.  :-/

Just browsing some old threads. I eventually figured out what these are, they are a standard part on many BL cars called a 'spire nut'.

FC2803 is the one - I think, although there seem to be different sizes for bigger screws (FC2804, FC2805...). Just waiting till suppliers get them in stock again to find out for sure.
