molten
HelloSince i put K&N filters on the carbs, the original fuel pipe that connects to the float chambers and goes around the filters, is no longer long enough because the K&N's are bigger filters - so I am looking to replace this pipe.As the float chamber piping is 6mm O/D, would it make any difference if I replaced the original steel pipe with a 6mm I/D stainless braided hose?Origial pipe is 4mm I/D so the hose would be 2mm bigger on I/D. Would this increase on I/D case me problems? Thanks

bodders1
The internal diameter of the fuel pipe doesn't really matter, so long as it is not impeding the free flow of fuel, and doesn't leak at the joints. The only thing to make certain of is that the braided hose that you are fitting is rated for carrying fuel (BS AU 108 )

molten
Thanks for posting gents.Another option is to get some 6mm od x 4mmid stainless tube and bend accordingly then use some 6mm id hose to link up to float chambers.VR makes a good point and this option will remove this possibility. Velocita Rosso
However, just be careful which grade of Stainless you useIf its too hard/brittle then it can crackI`m not saying you can`t do it, just watch the grade
Bradley1500
Dad's last Spitfire had stainless braided pipe connecting the float bowls.Didn't particularly like it because it hung down too far for my liking. Also you can't see the condition of the rubber underneath. molten
Hey Gaz That looks pretty neat and tidy running over the K&Ns.I ordered 500mm length of descaled stainless tube with the idea of putting a few bends in. Might see if I can route is similarly.
