Spitfire1500
Hi everyone,I've been gradually seeing to my 206 before it's MoT next week; but I have one query about the backbox. The outer skin is pretty scabby, crumbling away and now quite sharp in places.I am wondering if this will count as an MoT failure, or if it is likely to be passable - as it still has it's inner skin intact. Thanks in advance,David
firebobby
If it's blowing it may fail (depending on how good/bad the tester is) if it's not blowing and is not hanging off, it should pass. Our Honda Jazz has a very rusty/crusty back box, it's not blowing and that has passed 2 MOT's like that :)
Spitfire1500
Cheers for your reply Firebobby,I don't think it's blowing, but I'll try the old tea-towel test with someone or hand test and check for leaks underneath. Thanks again,David
Davemate
Get a can of exhaust paint and paint it should only cost a few quid,as long as its not blowing
junkuser
"The outer skin is pretty scabby, crumbling away and now quite sharp in places"Those sharp bits could cause lacerations to any pedestrians you happen to run over, especially it you reverse over them.
