don cook1
Clutch is soon to come off of my MK111 GT6 and I thought I would replace the rear crankshaft oil seal...is this easy??
Nick Jones
Actually, if memory serves it is easier that that. You will have to remove the flywheel and maybe the backplate (hazy on this bit) but you do not have to (indeed it is better not to) disturb the seal housing or sump. You can simply dig out the old seal (don't scratch the crank) and tap in a new one taking care to get it square.Nick
Deleted User
I saw a nice one once! Some clown didn't want to bother REMOVING the old seal, so he just knocked it further in and bodged another one on top!Made a right mess that did!
GTsixCA
Might be wrong here as i am not too sure if there is a difference between the Mk1 GT6 and Mk3 Gt6 rear seal set-up, as you can see from the picture the seal quite clearly needs to be installed when the housing has been removed due to the counterbore being on the engine side, so i'm afraid the housing needs to come of (again only if the Mk3 is the same as the Mk1
