elementary
How do I fit a new gauge to an old engine? Do I require copper pipe & fittings as well as a gauge?
RobPearce
What you need depends on the type of gauge. Most viable cheap gauges are "mechanical" and require a capilliary pipe from a take-off on the oil light switch fitting. The gauge will probably be supplied with some flexible plastic pipe. It may also come with a fitting but probably not with a T-piece. There are electric pressure gauges available but in my experience the affordable ones are rubbish. If you decide to get one of them anyway, it will have a "sender unit" that screws in in place of the oil light switch. To have both, you will need a T-piece. The T-piece (and pipe fittings) obviously need to be the right thread. I don't recall what it is off the top of my head but it's fairly standard (certainly the same as a classic Mini so there's plenty of supply of the right parts). Tim Bancroft
Try LMA, brilliant company. I am sure a call to them would bring some assistance. https://www.lmaautoparts.co.uk/Motorsport/Gauges_Gauge_Fittings_Pipelines
