nang
Still going over my Spit.Have found that the vacuum advance unit must have a holey diaphragm. Sucking the hose does not produce the usual vacuum.Should I just blank it off and forget it, or try to find a replacement.Rimmers have the earlier models but none for my engine number. They're also horribly expensive. No one else seems to stock them.Any thoughts please. Thanks Tony.
roddymacp
Please don't laugh, but many years ago I had a series one Land Rover with the same problem. Parts were not readily available and my vac advance had a perforated diaphragm. I split the diaphragm housing carefully and replaced the perforated bit with a piece of suitable plastic carrier bag. It worked, but I had to do this several times before I sourced the replacement that I needed. Fiddley work and not really permanent, but it did the job on a temporary basis.
