Steve Cureton Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Are they squealing with foot off the pedal? If so that's where anti-squeal shims come in, but if they squeal when braking then there's not much you can do (unless they've picked up road dirt) and some pads squeal whatever you do, Usually wears off if you can put up with it for a while.
CHRIS211083 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Take your pads out and smear a thin layer of copper grease on the backs. That should sort it and if not then it will be brake dust. In this case you need to change the brand you use or get drilled or grooved discs. These stop the pads glazing and the dust is pushed into the holes/grooves. Let us know how you get on.
Billy Boy Bailey Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 ;)I was embarassed when my brakes squealed but after watching Rowan Atkinson and the modern Astons race around Silverstone making the same noise approaching bends, I felt proud. Perhaps it shows we drive high performance cars?
ferny Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I doubt it seeing as the 1144's on my Herald started to squeak a few months ago. Just turn the radio up, that normally gets rid of it.
