Matt306
I am progressing slowly with the rebuild. A 99p saloon tub has helped matters I am grafting on a convertible top on to it leaving only 3 pieces to repair on the tub. Then its bonnet and electrics. The engine runs although needs some fiddling to get it running well. The electrics are standard at the moment however the horn has previously caused problems as I have found the melted wire and a replacement to the press on the steering wheel. Now for safety sake (My renault recently megane combusted sue to electrical fire) I will be fitting a fuse box to all electrical devices. Now is there a 'How to' guide someone has posted or come across?
Steve AKA vitessesteve
Depends how far you want to go. The Vitesse had 2 fuses on the bulkhead and 1 inline fuse behind the dash. Take a look at the electrical pages (group6) in http://www.vitessesteve.co.uk/PDF/Herald,Spitfire,Vitesse.pdfBut if you are starting fresh I would add something more modern. Matt306
I think something far more modern to be honest. I am thinking of grouping or just going one circuit per fuseWipersHeaterDash electricsIndicatorsLightsHornHeadlamps (with relay)Radio (later)Thats 8 or am i missing something? Zendervision
You could put main beam and dipped headlights on different fuses so you're not suddenly without lights if the fuse blows.
Matt306
Good call on that... I am thinking of putting relays for the headlamps and separate fuses away from the electrics
Elma fud
I'd go for a fuse box with 12-14 fuses so you have spares to add other items, electrnic ignition, kenlowe fan ect.
