PaulB Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 HiNeed some advice, regarding fitting headlight relays.Where is the best position to locate the actual relays. Is it under the dash or in the engine compartment?Any advice appreciated. Thanks
James Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Been covered quite a few times before.Fit the relays under the front of the bonnet.Use a fat piece of wire fused close to the battery - run that to the relays at the front of the car.Use the existing feeds to switch the relays.James
willcolumbine Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I'm actually just in the process of writing up a blog entry on fitting relays - having just done the job myself. I've got mine fitted up front on a home made bracket. It's a simple job but it makes one hell of a difference to the light output and stops the switchgear taking the strain of halogen upgrades etc.
Richard B Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Will,l I would be worried about siting the relays there. drive through a deep puddle and you could have flooded electrics. On my Spitfire & James Coopers GT6 we sited them vertically on the bulkhead.
willcolumbine Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I did think about the possibility of them getting wet but I liked this position better than the other options. They're actually pretty well protected from spray etc by the inner wheelarch when the bonnet is down.
James Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Best place I reckon would be above the wheel arch and forwards.
