J type overdrive whining a bit

Hi folks

Have noticed this since removing front carpets (as get wet), a whine when O/D engaged.

G/B oil recent and full. Clean O/D first and second filter.

Is this usual, or maybe nothing to worry about, or maybe look more deeply into it, as may be removing G/B, due to a pos clutch issue.

Any advice brill please.

Mine has always whined. The overdrive in my uncles Mack R700 whines too.  Thought it was inherent in the design...

All gears whine to some extent, just some rather more than others. The overdrive planetary gears are slant-cut, so they're not loud, but they do whine a little.

Some do it, some not (or at least not enough to notice).  I wouldn't worry about it unless it's getting steadily louder.

It only got louder when you took the carpet off?

I'd put the carpet back...
