saloon gearbox

i am selling a j type overdrive mk2 saloon box, and have been asked by a potential purchaser if it will mate up to a TR4 engine. anybody know????

I have recently rebuilt a J type for my TR6 and had a J type box out of my son's Triumph 2000.  One thing I do know is that the the saloon has a different clutch plate so this would require changing.  Also it is likely that the rear gear box mounting would be different as I found out with my TR6 that was built for A type overdrives.  I had to buy an adapter bracket to locate the box.

yes but the tr4 has a different engine, a 2.1litre four pot, that is why i'm asking, all the sixpots can take the box, albeit with different backplates flywheels and clutches and mounts, it' just the old four pot we're not sure about, thank you anyway

the gearbox (casing) will fit but you will have to do the mods mentioned above.
