Goody
Yesterday I pressed in new Polly bushings on the rear of the Diff. Both stick out about a 1/4 inch on each side. This makes them too wide to fit between upright channels in the frame. I did notice a sleve inside both diff holes. Is the sleeve suposed to be their? Thoughts please. Thanks: Bill
herald948
Something doesn't sound quite right, Bill. Original bushes were rubber with a metal sleeve, as were replacements I installed in one diff a year or two ago. And I certainly don't recall them sticking out either side that much! 100+
If all else is good, trim the sleeves down, then re-insert them clean (un-cut) end first?
Nick Moore
I think Goody means than when he removed the rubber bushes from the diff housing, a metal sleeve was left behind in each hole. Is that right, Goody? If so, I think the sleeves were part of the rubber bushes, and should be removed before the urethane bushes are pressed in. cbjroms
Definitely need to remove the sleeves in order to get the poly bushes to fit.The sleeves are quite difficult to see until you know what you are looking for. Just hacksaw through and drift-out.Chris
Paudman
Old vs new bushes pictured. As you can see a delicate process of removal was required for the old ones. The old metal sleeve is to the left.Colin
Goody
Thanks Nick, cbjroms and paudman that in fact was the sleeve I was talking about. The sleeves we in so good that it looked like the factory put them their to give the bushings a smooth surface. Me thinks I destroyed 2 poly ones.
