Sienna PI
Hi All!I have just had new bearings and seals fitted to the Input axles on my diff' - after bolting them back into the unit I have noticed that there is a gap between the bearing retainer and the "cup" on the end of the flange on both sides (approx 2mm on offside and about 5mm on nearside)...i) should there be a gap here?ii) or should the cup fully cover the bearing retainer?iii)the gap is larger on the nearside - should they have the same gap either side?Cheers, Sienna PI. GT6 M
Its mebe just the seal aint pushed as far back as it could be.Or, mebe, the two halfs have no been shuvved onto the taper enough,or tightenend up enough to get em back on.you tried tightening the bigg nut, if this is tight, then its no gonna budge.Butt,as long as its on the smooth bit, then it will sealM
Richard B
Is the cup welded or an interference fit to the output shaft?Try measuring the distace from the flange to cup. They may not be in the same position.... :-/

Thanks very much for your responses - Yes I have tightened the castle nuts tight and am thinking that they have not pressed the new bearings etc. on fully by the garage I took them to. Here is a photo of the nearside.
