Dogsbody47uk
Has anybody any opinion on which is better? The strap type prop shaft or sliding joint prop shaft for 1360 Herald.
Clive
strap type is best avoided, seem to have too many issues once they wear.
Dogsbody47uk
Had a feeling that might be the reply. have owned heralds and vitesses years ago. Never met a strap type until now. (1971 reg 13/60 saloon). Always had sliding Spline type before.

They're more common on Vitesses though.Until the strap-drives came in, most Heralds had a solid shaft with no compression of any sort, just the two UJs to articulate,Cheers,Bill. Dogsbody47uk
How about on mk2 vitesses? I'm on my fourth. Daily driver is a !3/6. Vitesse is a project.
Clive
vitesse all seem to use the sliding spline. It is just the herald that was solid or strap. I prefer solid....Dave Gleed (not sure on that spelling) had a brand new prop at stoneleigh, but it probably sold as it was not expensive.
