Thought I'd start a thread about interesting features to look out for along the route, not that we have a great deal of time to visit them!
One that I've previously visited was the John Cobb memorial the banks of Loch Ness on the A82 just past Urquhart Castle, marking the spot where the great man died in 1952 trying to break the water speed record.
Here are some pics taken on the '94 run (blimey that's 20 years ago!)

One of my favourites is the magnificent statue/memorial to David Stirling, founder of the SAS. Instead of following the A84 to J10 of the M9 take the slight detour via the A820/B824 from Doune and join the M9 at J11. The statue will be to your left, just off the B824. If you are on schedule it should still be daylight!!

Top one for me is the imposing Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. Go there on a bleak winters day- quite moving.
Clearly visible on the Right on the run into Spean Bridge prior to Fort William.

Actually Mike although my suggestion is a slight detour off the recommended route there is nothing in it as regards mileage and it is slightly quicker since it includes an extra 3 miles of motorway on the way to control #8, Morrisons Garage, Stirling.
