10CR the soundtrack

As some of you are aware, Car 47 on the 10 CR is being fitted with an in car camera an mics by a west of ireland television production company.  the plan is that they can get enough footage, breakdowns in car fighting, and cheesey group bonding,  to make a short piece on the 10cr for television.

this started as a lofty idea, but is very much coming to fruition.  i hope to be able to make an edited DVD version of this available to all teams entered.

So with that in mind, combined with the era from which the cars began life can you all give me suggestions as to the 10 songs that should be used as the 10CR soundtrack.

dont anyone even bother with Tracy Chapman's Fast Car!

and at the snails pace rate our car is coming together, closing shots could be team 47 on a snow cover autobahn in December 2005 to the sounds of Chris Rea Driving home for Christmas, as the credits slowly roll  :D

We await your replies ( Colm & Damien - Car 47)

As I compiled a 10Cr2003 CD (no, I can't have done cos that would have been illegal) I already ahve a few ideas for you.

Having said that I'll sit back and consider for a while but -

If you are anywhere near car 1 passing by Valenciennes on Thursday night you will hear "Nellie the Elephant" as I have been waiting two years to play it again :D

My daughter (for she has the techno) will put one together for me. it will include: Dead Man's Curve, Leader of the Pack, Little Old Lady from Pasadena..and a smattering of Who oldies and, of course, Little Deuce Coupe. If only I could track down 'I want my Baby Back', the sequel to Leader of the Pack!

How about "Carnival de Paris"?

The sound track from the Italian Job of course, The Procalimers "I'm on my way", Queen "Don't stop me now", any Quo.

Here's an obscure one - the Grants, "On a mission". This one is well known in linedance circles :B but there's some great lyrics for us

"I'm on a mission, a mission to drive anywhere I want, I gotta get me car"

Ok, all credibiltiy gone now I will slink off stage ::)

Rider's on the storm - oh yes ;) That's got to be good for driving overnight.

And of course "Radar love" - "it's half past four and I'm shifting gear" ;)

There's a case for playting Jeff Waynes "War of the Worlds" - very atmospheric in the early hours

Jonathan,
No, this is the cooking version without an aux.input.  But those that do were a LOT more expensive, and I'm a cheapskate.
So to make it up to you, I'll sing.  There's a treat!

Or more seriously, I wonder if an in-the-ear speaker taped to the boom mike would work?  Then the passenger can play DJ.  Everyone in the car  - make some noise!

Even more seriously - anyone read today's Motoring Telegraph?  Big plug for Tour Brittania that kicks off and finishes just after we leave.  The entry list seems to live up to their strapline, "A prestigious new race tour for historic cars", as the entry list includes THREE GT40s!    But then it also includes Escorts and MGBs.  Prestigious?  Hmmmmmmm.
See: http://www.tourbritannia.com/
The Editor of Motor Telegraph is a GT6 owner and has a soft spot for Triumphs - has he been informed of our  prestigious and far more adventurous tour?  If not, please will you, Raider, or whoever is the "Media Accreditation" person, as it says on the TB site?  We might get a plug next week in MT!

Tour Brittania looks astonishlingly good value at only £3,995 for an entry fee.

Makes Le Jog and the Winter Challenge look like cheap club events.

But still expensive enough to keep out the riff-raff, sorry, real enthusiasts unless they don't know any better.

Is it any wonder people enter events like the 10CR, the RBRR, the 20CC and La Carrera.

Some people must be getting rich off the backs of petrol heads.

One thing's for sure - it ain't me!

John - La carrerra was absolutely brilliant and is sure to become a feature for the Club Triumph driver's club ;D

if you go the section on the forum under "Toutes Directions" then Comps and Tours you'll find a thread  about it.

I know you have just joined the club but if you have the July edition of Club Torque you will find my article about it on page 60.

finally, at the top of this page you'll find "photos" - in there you will see La carrerra under "Events" I think . ;)
