bilk
I'm having trouble replacing the original shocks with Spax ones. I thought the sleeve from the old bushes had stuck to the original bolts but it now looks as though the bolt is supposed to be like that because they fit through the holes in the chassis. The lower bolts are the same and the problem is that they are too big for the bushes on the new shocks. I don't want to put smaller bolts in because there will be some play. Am I missing something?Cheers, Phil
Deleted User
The upper bolt in the rear shocks should be that large. If your bush on the spax shock has a metal sleeve bin it, if not they have the wrong bushes fitted. As far as my memory goes the lower bolts werent the special ones and just normal 9/16 bolts. bilk
Thanks,So is it possible to get new bushes without the metal sleeve or is there an easy way to remove the sleeve from the Spax?

heraldcoupe
There is no lower bolt, the lower mounting is part of the vertical link, a pin with a threaded end. The bushes are a simple tapered affair, one on each side. Your dampers have either been supplied incorrectly configured, or they are not intended for a Spitfire (or Herald , GT6 etc). Contact your supplier,Cheers,Bill.
