Thanks Tim, I went up to Feltham, as you say very helpfull.

I took the rad I originally had fitted with me to see if they could fit a new core and it turns out it's had one at some point. The pitch of the vertical tubes are a lot closer together than the one on the car.

They wanted over £200 to fit what they call an "S" type core which is a bit out of my budget, so I may just swap them over again now that I have got an accurate capilary temperature gauge to make a comparison.
