Workshop manual that covers convertibles

I've either got to find out if there's any adjustment in where the sticks bolt to the tub, or how to fit a replacement cover - the one that's on is okay, but has shrunk. I've done that a couple of times on a TR7, using a proper ROM as I remember. So I've a basic idea, but there'll be differences of detail.

There is a degree of adjustment in the main pivot plate, it's mounted onto a floating backplate, but movement is limited.

The factory workshop manual is an absolute essential in looking after a Herald. It's worth trying to find an original copy in the black ring binder if possible, it's more workshop friendly in having full-size pages and fold-out oversize diagrams. There's also no bound spine to get in the way of leaving pages open,

No, this is only the case with the 948 manual, which was supplied as a set of six paperback volumes. All subsequent models were covered in the black-bound ringbinder volume, this also included coverage of the Vitesse 6 and Spitfire Mk1-3,

Cheers Bill. I've never seen a black ring-binder with the Spitfire MkIII included. Now I know they exist I'll look a bit more closely.

I was given my ringbinder volume out of the blue by an old gentleman who saw my estate parked up near my workplace and dropped it in at the office. He said that my needs were now greater than his, as he had given up driving some years before...I gave him a contribution to a charity of his choice.

It all depends which pages have been updated/replaced. Early copies predate them, but late copies cover the Mk3 Spitfire and Herald 13/60. Amongst my literature I have a set of unused update pages for the black book, it's basically a new set of contents without the binder,

These training note are the D's Bs, including the information on adjusting the length of cantrail at the front to close the gap at the back of the window.

However, I think the rear part of the hood's shrunk too much, or just misassembled, as I can see the windscreen frame bend back and the scuttle rise against the bonnet as I do the clamps up with the cantrail shortened enough to close that gap. So I've still got a bit on the driver's side. And I think I'll need to fit a new cover to solve the problem.

Also, the rear part of the weather strip rail (above the B post) is pop riveted to the hood frame, so I can't move that outboard, which would help a little. Can anyone tell me if the bolts are part of the metal strip, or their heads are just hidden behind the rubber seal? If anyone has pictures of a disassembled one, that would be nice.
