  1. I have a complete (but dismantled) short MM engine that is good for recon. Crank gave low oil pressure. Bores were poor. All STD I think. And various other parts. North Essex. Cheers Colin
  2. A light right foot this time round, knowing it's could have been the most expensive ever?
  3. Still in back of garage, need to get it out and blow away the cobwebs.
  4. You can always do your own thing Don.
  5. It would be interesting to know how many of the causes of retirement could have been fixed at the roadside. I know at least 2 retirements were for rear driveshaft failure on an IRS car. 30 minute fix if you have a spare with you.
  6. There are ways round this, I had about 50 to get rid of. Max 4 per month at the local dump, well recycling centre, where everything goes in a hole in the ground. The policing is done by registration numbers, so take different cars, try to wear a different coat or hat. Then I took to sending the wife, 8 at a time. They would intercept her and say " you know you are only allowed 4 a month, try to remember that next time, would you like a hand unloading them" All gone in a couple of weeks. 🙂
  7. I have had a few sets of Maxxis over the years, latest set have now done 2 RBRR, they were free, so even better! Really good value for only if I had paid for them.
  8. But did you have people arriving before the earliest due time hoping you would not notice and sign the books?

  10. Oh for gods sake, last time I try and be clever and post from my phone. 🤔 Can anyone "de-Australian-ise" it?
  11. I think £750 may be RORO.
  12. Saw this in local Tesco filling Station. Never seen one before, was amazingly solid. Last on road in 79 apparently.
  13. There is £14.5k additional gift aid available to be added, so just under £103k collected. What a good show of support.
  14. I did do a few enquiries, mostly of a guy in the Morgan Owners Club, who had done just that, taking a dozen or so cars over for a few weeks driving round the US. Decided it is a holiday for a rich retired person. Container each way not cheap, seem to remember insurance wasn't cheap either.
  15. Where about are you based Howard?
  16. Fully home built, unless it happens to be the factory demonstrator. Don't think it is.
  17. Or a Moss Roadster, one has2 seats and the other 4
  18. Just thinking, could we just cut some lengths of hose from a scrap modern car?
  19. A bit more rambling. Roger asks why Okehampton, timing control, pure and simple. It came in same time as the more regulated opening times on the controls. If you have your arrival times recorded at defined points, it is not too difficult to work out how fast you were travelling between points A and B. Other parties can work it out as well. I think the Falls of Sin control opened 1 hour too late, Same as Skiatch "2" did 3 years ago. Too much standing about. The RallyApp worked fine for us, we had it running on an old Samsung with a burner SIM in it, but I could have tethered to my main phone. Kept main phone free that way, And everyone has a old phone I am sure. I am disappointed that more people did not ask for help when they had trouble. Or perhaps they did and their requests were more directional, and unanswered. If we held anyone up, especially on the A68 when we were tentatively seeing how much abuse the gearbox would take after it started getting very noisy, I apologise, we were trying to avoid changing out of 4th at that point. After the driveshaft UJ failed, we gave up trying and just went for it to see if it went bang. It didn't. I wonder if the paperwork should include a "F**ked car, please pass" sticker for back window, at least no-one would accuse you of driving like a granny that way.
  20. Time for my ramblings, well the first batch. to start, I have no idea who the despicable person was or what they did, if someone could fill me in, that would be great. That It was mentioned that people would be banned if they went to unapproved places mystifies me. we stopped at a services in Scotland, that was not an approved stop, and MSUK had not been told we were going to stop there. Would we be banned? Clearly. Rob admitted to going a different route round the A39/A30. Would we ban him? Of course. On past events we have met up with friends as we went round, I even think we got some refreshments, we hadn't told anyone we were going to do that. Instant ban? So, does an exact route need defining, with specified fuel and food stops, and it is fully policed electronically. Fill up at a supermarket, not allowed, go to McDonalds for breakfast, again not approved, both to result in an instant ban. What if I accidentally stopped and spoke to a person I was unaware I was not supposed to talk to. Blackballing I guess. Anyway, I enjoyed it, and will ramble on shortly.
  21. On previous occasions my Monday relaxation has been to try and find all the problems and retirements from people's forum postings and message diary etc. Just so I can work out why I failed to see someone, be it The you dropped out or I just wasn't looking. Will see I found I can find any of them Over the years I have had a few issues, but no retirements yet. 1300fwd (underpowered, but that isn't a fault) - carb jet pipes were poor quality and kept collapsing in the heat acting like valves - 48 hours of misfiring. Mk1 2000 - carb jet o-rings started leaking badly - blagged some PI injector ones that fitted Mk1 PI - fuel pump burnt out, steering rack inner joints failed, co-driver collapsed (does that count?) - lost a rear wheel stud, replaced. Dolomite Sprint - rotor arm and cap failed (both new) Mk2 2000 - engine earth failed, meant lights went out as you dipped clutch - noisy gearbox (ignored) Mk1 PI - Electronic Ignition failed due to wire rubbing on rotor arm Mk2 Estate - Distributor failure Mk2 2000 - front disks warped, drag strut bushes failed - ignored Mk2 2000 - Rear driveshaft UJ failed - (Ignored but did have a spare if needed) - rear seat springs collapsed.
  22. I stuck the stickers to motorway grade magnetic sheet, then left them in the sun on thebonnet of a car to heat them up and make glue more sticky and flatten the sheet. a strip of insulating tape down front edge as a belt and braces approach and they went nowhere. the plaque stickers kept peeling up off the sheets of plastic I applied them to front and back, so they had tape on multiple edges.
  23. They fit to standard Vitesse Runner I think.
