  1. Many thanks Jim, that's very helpful and will have put a few minds at rest. Look forward to seeing you and Katy. Tim
  2. This will be my 23rd RBRR participation in the trusty 4A and the 16th with Mike Hockaday as co-driver. Our aggregate age on this year's event will be 144 years, will that be the highest of any two-person team I wonder. Tim
  3. Great to see you face to face as well Ben after all those years and many thanks for your sterling work on and continued support with the Forum/Website. Tim
  4. I'll just be there on Saturday, should arrive around 09.30. Tim
  5. I had a quite early Lumenition optronic system on the 4A with a stamped steel chopper rather than the later injection moulded plastic one. The power module failed after about thirty years, the system having been perfectly reliable until then, not a bad life. Short term I reverted to points. However, the distributor was worn and I was getting intermittent pinking from worn balance weight springs (remember that the Lumenitioin still relies on the mechanical advance). I went the 123 fully solid state route 14 years ago, this was a more attractive financial option that a new Lumenition plus distributor rebuild. I carry the old Lucas 25D4 with leads in the boot as belt and braces, it would be a very quick job to swap but I expect never to need it. However it did help out a Dutch entrant in a TR4 on the Border Raiders in 2018. Tim
  6. I guess the CT stand will be in Area 11 on the site map Clive and we will be directed there when our tickets are checked - right? Tim
  7. The event opens to the general public at 10.00 Don and for safety reasons there should be no vehicle movements on the Club display areas after that so we are suggesting members arrive between say 09.00 and 09.45 latest. I understand up to 800 cars can be expected overall at this big Show so it may be a bit busy later on! Look forward to seeing you and many others there. Tim
  8. I have seen reports questioning the quality of more recent Grose jets, so may be an issue now. I fitted mine to the 4A over 30 years ago and they are still fine. Tim
  9. Neat trick Roger, how did you do that? Tim
  10. I had the same problem a while ago Sam, pics from an iPhone were rotated through 180 degs when loaded. I am sure there is a work around for those smarter than me. Tim
  11. I am really struggling with this, having tried several times unsuccessfully over the past two days. If I click on 'Join The Team' and then 'Create Your Fundraising Page' the next screen invites me to 'Search For an Organised Event' but every time I click on the magnifying glass symbol nothing happens. I hope someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Tim
  12. Thanks Chris. You have done a simply outstanding job to put this event on having had to adapt to ever changing guidelines. I wish it every success and whilst 50 would have been nice I reckon the current 30 entries is excellent under the circumstances. Tim
  13. Mark, due to carelessness I made two pinholes in the TR radiator on the 2012 RBRR. I added some Bar's Leaks and fitted a lower pressure (4lbs) rad cap and got round OK. When home I removed the radiator and carefully cleaned around the holes after which I fluxed them and carefully ran some solder over them. This repair is still going strong after 9 years. Good luck to you and all the C2C entrants this weekend, I hope all complete the trip OK and only wish I were joining you. Tim
  14. Very clear demonstration of the LED illumination advantage Jim. When you switched the lights on it was also obvious how much more quickly the LED bulb illuminated compared to the incandescent filament type. When you also take into account the significant power saving WNTL? I was just surprised though that as a Scot you did not succumb to the Nighteyes! Tim
  15. I have booked a place on the infield TR Register stand at the Classic on Saturday 31st July. I have a spare ticket for a passenger and will be travelling from near Hitchin in Herts. If anyone fancies joining me for a ride in one of the Club's best known cars please drop me a PM or give me a call on one of the numbers to be found on page 4 of Club Torque. Tim
  16. Don't forget the sealing washer when you replace the pipe on the oil pressure gauge Bruce! Tim
  17. That's odd Sam. I just checked on the GOV website and found the MOT history for my 4A back to 2005 no problem. Tim
  18. Yes Luc, a lovely looking car and colour, good luck, you will find plenty of assistance on here. I think quite unusual these days to find one of these cars on the original wheels with imitation 'Rostyle' trims. Tim
  19. +1. The uprated Land Rover U/Js have longer roller bearings to spread the load and metal bearing caps, well worth the extra cost. I obtained from www.jgs4X4.co.uk Part no. TVC 100010G but these were the larger GKN 1300 series (27 x75mm) for the TR4A. Tim
  20. Don't understand the compulsion to add a 'musical' sound track myself. Isn't the song from a nicely tuned Triumph engine sufficient accompaniment?? Tim
  21. Ingenious Craig and a good demonstration of the impressive torque available from a decent quality cordless hand tool these days. Tim
  22. I couldn't resist posting this image from a recent short trip. You might think that the driver in front made a very late decision to turn left rather than right but I am afraid even that thin excuse is not available, since they were signalling their intention to turn left for at least 100 yards on the approach to the junction! I am of course used to seeing such thoughtless driving but the recent acquisition of a dash cam allows me to record and keep such examples for my continued amusement. The registration mark is of course obscured to protect the guilty. Tim
  23. My vote goes to this jack, purchased for £10 at a car boot 15 years ago. 5" minimum clearance, lifts to 14" and while it no doubt has not had as much use as Jason would have subjected it to it has never leaked. Tim
