  1. Tim, I am surprised that you will not be entering the RBRR. I have been going through the Entry Lists since 1966 and attempting to work out who finished each event and other stats. I see that your first RBRR was in 1974 and that your co-driver was a chap called Russ Kenery and of course the car was your fabulous TR4A. According to CT records, you missed out 1976 and then returned with a chap called Paul Howells in 78, and then started your first of many with Mike Hockaday in the co-driver seat. Hope that if you can you will be at the Start at Knebworth.
  2. I have always run 30 psi on my GT6, seems fine to me.
  3. Be good to see you on the RBRR again Stuart, good luck with the prep.
  4. Got to say, that I still think the Spitfire/GT6 recliners are decent seats once they have been renovated. Nothing wrong with MX5 seats( apart from the tombstone ones, which look wrong in a Spitfire), but I like the Triumph seats. Obviously the physical size of an owner affects the choice, but my comparison between the Triumph and Mazda seats (I have MX5 seats in my TR6, I don't like the Triumph seats in those) is that I find the Triumph seats in my GT6 preferable.
  5. Keep going Darren, good Club car. Looks good on those wheels.
  6. Triumph did make some Mk1 Pi Estates, Richard Brake owns one....extremely rare car.
  7. Matt, I am sure that will not happen again. Hope to see you in the list of entrants. Tim
  8. Hi all, As a change from previous years, the Club has decided to delay the opening of the RBRR for Entry. Entry will open on Friday 10th February 2023 at 19.00hrs. As in the last few times, entry will be via this Website. We will offer 125no places, after that a Reserve List will be operated. Entry cost will be cheaper than in previous years @ £100.00 per person. However, we will ask Entrants to purchase their own Finisher Souvenirs. Regards, Tim
  9. Wim, Its great that you are so enthusiastic about the Spitfire. Cannot think of anyone who uses their Spitfire more than you? Note the car is in primer, are you planning on painting her?
  10. No, I meant where is the description?
  11. James Shackford (Shacktune) does a good set of rear springs from Eibach that work well. I have them on my Saloon, the front has Chris's progressive fronts work very well. I have fitted Koni shock absorbers all round and all is good. james@gnasupport.co.uk
  12. If you afford them, have a look at Longstone Tyres website...be aware, their tyres are very dear, but I have heard good things. Don't buy cheap though, they are your contact point with the road. Me, I like Uniroyal Rainsports...very good, not sure if available in narrow widths though.
  13. James Cooper's lovely TR6 graces the cover this month. Bought for £8k as a bit of a wreck, now one very sorted car.
  14. Got to agree with Dave, stick with the Strombergs, in many ways they are superior to SUs, mainly due to the integral float chamber. Re-furb and stick some MED stub stacks after the carbs have been re-built, then fit an ITG filter with a cold air feed and you will be surprised at the torque gain. MED Stub Stacks: Check with them to see that they will fit: https://www.med-engineering.co.uk/ancillaries/stub-stacks/med-stub-stacks ITG filter example: https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/itg-megaflow-air-filter-jc40-sausage-domed-type-itg-jc40-s-25 As Dave states, Chris Witor does a nice flowed inlet manifold. Also thin down the throttle spindles in the throat of the carb and make sure you have a smooth flow through the carbs into the manifold (port match). Good old fashioned UK sports car tuning. You will be surprised.
  15. Ian, if you plan to do the RBRR, its a no-brainer, fit the overdrive. I'd be loathe to fit without checking the box and overdrive out though. Put it in through the cockpit, just make sure the engine is at the correct angle. Bloody heavy unit is the Spit 1500 box and overdrive...cast iron bellhousing!!! Good luck.
  16. Valvoline VR1 or Classic Oils Heritage 20w/50.
  17. No problem with County pistons in the relatively new engines I have in my GT6 and TR6. I have not heard of anyone having issues with them.
  18. Er, Matt..don't like to be rude, but NO! 😁😁 Hope to see you on the 23 event.
