  1. So sad to have found this out. I met Paul with Andy on the inaugural 10CR in 2003, having breakfast somewhere in France and immediately was struck by his friendliness and kindness, a gent. It was always great to see both Andy and Paul in the yellow TR. Saw Paul at Wetherby on October when he popped in to say hello and his beaming smile immediately made one happy. It was as it always was, just great to see him and his sincere smile. A lovely man whose presence at CT events just seemed to make them all the better. Paul will be very much missed. Has anyone got that pic of Martin, Paul and McJim with the wine at Tebay? Its a marvellous snap of two CT men who are and will always be missed by many Club Triumph people.
  2. Hi Douglas, I have been enjoying your site for years, well done with it all. For readers here, here is Douglas' site: http://www.1147cc.com/
  3. Bit harsh to call it a 'bodge'..seems like a pragmatic answer if it works.
  4. Good stuff, Nick. I look forward to seeing the car in action! What next?
  5. In light of the recent covid situation, is this show still happening?
  6. Getting difficult to find, Mike Papworth or Dave Pearson would be a good first try. They seem to occasionalyy come up on ebay, but of course unwarranted condition.
  7. Nice diary of pics and comments Darren, OLAF is looking great!
  8. Does seem worthwhile, nice to have the windscren operation on the column. But the cost of a decent steering wheel is a major factor for not doing the job.
  9. Hi Bruce, I have driven my GT6 with J type overdrive and 3.63:1 differential for over 30 years and found it to be the ideal gearing for the car, decent enough engine speed at motorway speeds and nippy enough when pulling away. My GT6 is a non overdrive model and therefore had a 3.27:1 ratio diff, awful gearing for getting away quickly, much better now with the o'd and 3.63.
  10. They are original NGK leads from the 80s, very good quality back then. Is the dizzy 180 degrees out as 1 looks to be in the position of 6 etc etc?
  11. Alternatively, have the radiator modified with a boss that can take a fan switch, then wire in a small circuit with a switch in the cockpit. Fan switches can be obtained in various temperature ranges. Best of both worlds as one can just leave for the fan to be switched on auomatically or alternatively one can over-ride and switch the fan on when harder driving is about to be done.
  12. That is very nice. Here is the Saloon I will inevitably use:
  13. The only issue would be with early mk1 doors that have the pivoting handle and recessed locks. My Mk2 GT6 has Spittie 1500 doors, that have been modified both internally (door handle: Holes exist for the older type of handle) and externally (early doorskins).
  14. Thanks for posting this Jimbo. Paul is one of the good guys, so well done Paul.
  15. Totally...the rubber ones that are available are not particularly worth having as they perish so quickly, so polybush items are the only viable choice...look at Superflex, seem to be good quality and include a stainless steel tube, therefore don't rust to the bolt.
  16. The 'long' manifold may be an issue (strut tower), use the 2500S HS6 inlet manifold. You will be surprised how good a set of SU HS6 can be...throttle linkage can be an issue though. Difficult to get a decent filter in the gap between the carbs and the strut tower. Bastruk in Germany do a lightened flywheel, otherwise talk to Chris Witor. I agree with Dave in the last message, CV shafts are well worth it. I have Classic Driveline units in my 2.5 and yes, very good. Think about a 123 distributor....some don't reckon them, I have had no issue with them. Don't go mad on the compression ratio...
  17. Colin is correct. The value went up because we asked MNDA to add crews who had set up JG pages, but not stated that they were part of the CT grouping. So, yep, chuffed to say the least!
  18. Marvellous to read this...well done!
  19. Sadly Gordon, I believe it has been purchased by a CT member who lived in the region of the seller. Sorry to state this.
  20. Sorry Steve, no just the Route and other event info.
  21. Blimey, just sold the 1990 book and one of the 1992 books.
  22. Hi all, I have just done a quick count up of the Roadbooks from old RBRRs and now have a full set. Also, thought I have a lot of spare copies that are available to be bought by CT members. Therefore, should a member wish to purchase one, a donation towards the CT RBRR supported charity, Motor Neurone Disease Assoc would be the best way to pay, plus of course postage. I have the following books: 1990: 1no. 1992: 2no. 1996: 1no. 1998: 1no. 2000: 1no. 2002: 5no. 2004: 1no. 2006: 2no. 2008: 1no. 2012: 18no. 2016: 13no. 2018: 2no. 2021: 28no. Shall we say a tenner each including postage. Please email me on tim.bancroft@clubtriumph.co.uk to order. Tim
  23. I should point out that CT first offset the RBRR in 2006 and did the same in 2008....suddenly when economic gloom descended for the UK, the climate change dissapeared from the front pages...can't see that happening again though.
