  2. Had a pair of rally giants on mine back in the day - I still think they're a good cheap spot (although mine were the top-end 12" jobs, big money when you're on £50 a week). Completely illegal wiring too, which allowed me to use them and main beams together. One time a bloke coming the other way hadn't dipped. He found his way into the ditch when I nuked him, poor bugger. Oh, the guilt. That "CAB 578N" has the same kind of look. That's an illegal plate for the year of the car though isn't it. Tut tut.
  3. A bodge job then eh? Perhaps to try and get a tiny bit more offset at the back? (think) In my limited experience with a couple of "B"'s, I seem to recall they both had bolt-on adapters. *shrug* Minilites! (I'm the only one who likes wires any more....).
  4. :) I wouldn't glue them down at all, either. Fitting the studs will hold them properly, no bother.
  5. Andy - can't you measure the PCD on the Marcos one then give it a Google? (I like asking stoopid questions.)
  6. I believe it's a reactor pressure vessel containing Markus's small thorium fuel cell, to provide his nuclear braking.
  7. Be careful with that alternator Aaron, the casings are really quite brittle.  :)
  8. michael_charlton wrote: No lollipops, wigs or cows allowed.......shorts hemline must stop at the ankles ;D Even long hemlines can still look pretty frightful, no? Wasn't there a photograph that proves this, somewhere?
  9. I felt that way too Bill, so I learned how to skip.
  10. Ah, the good old carb conversation... here we go! Generally, Webers are preferred, more adjustable, sound better and also look better (some say). I presume they are more expensive - I seem to remember they were, in the Moss catalogue. And of course fuel injection with electronic ignition's better still. Must be. Strombergs though - I like 'em!  :) Even though the Good kit is not a cheap set-up (you don't want the emission carbs, probably) and you'll need a nice new fuel pump too, and decent rolling road tuning to get them to perform at optimum, it's still a cheaper alternative that performs well and looks great. (Especially if all the dash pot plungers are the same colour - unlike your photo!)
  11. Wim, If I didn't know better, I'd swear that the left side corner of your bumper is distorted - pulled up and out a bit, where that shine (that looks like Caspar the friendly ghost) is. Is it bent? http://club.triumph.org.uk/uploads/230198_10200308791666515_53601471_n_4314.jpg Leave time (schedule it) to go out and get drunk during the restoration btw. It's important.
  12. It's got big eyebrows. Is it Dennis Healey?
  13. 4058 wrote:Where did you take them smithy? For a nice romantic meal? Or out to the discoteque?  ;D Off for a nice visit to eBay! I had to ask Memsahib Markus, yes, since she liked 'em.  :-/ Not me though, had me knee banging on the H frame. And that's when trying to drive the car, Shepherd..... Only OK for little elves and hobbits (no offence Markus) - although my problems were exacerbated (we use that word a lot here) by my lovely roll bar. When it came to a choice, I kept the chrome. Funny that. Alan at 6'5" would have to mount 'em on the rear scuttle and fit steer-by-wire....! Have some photos. Yes, they're rubbish, I know.  :-/ Spit seats and MX5 seats look reasonably similar on the floor of the garage, and even in the car, but when it comes to the driving position and use - they ain't. I miss the lateral support though, I will say that. They were better in the twisties. MX5 seats are higher, thicker, taller - more supportive. Had to chop the "corner" off the covers on the ratchet thing. Before and after. With this type you can just pull the runners right off, so fitting is a bit easier. Still a damn nuisance though. Had to put a new hole in the floor, and open out one of the old ones a bit. They're not "symmetrical" on either side of the car as I recall, so a fair bit of sweating and jiggery-pokery was required. Chop off the edge of the runner - a bit like that. You can chop the whole foot off if you want and bolt it someplace else. (See if I care). There were some spikey bits that located through the floor of the Mazda. I whipped those off as well. All this is on that American bloke's site.     Had to whip a bit off these plates too - just the edge. Watch your fingers, they're bloody sharp after being snipped. Here. Doesn't tell you anything does it? You'd have had to sit in them. I have to say going back to Spitfire was blissful for me. I was even thinking about selling the car! If I was going to put MX5 seats in a Spitfire it would be one without a roll bar (since they don't happily co-exist in my experience), and I'd have THIS type - in the car below, 'cos they look nice and they're a better fit. Or seemed to be when I tried them out, later. Ta-da. Sorry it's not a better photo of the seat detail, but note the headrest type (yes they're still MX5), you can find what they are from that.
  14. How tall are you Alan? I put MX5 seats in my Spitfire, and have since taken them out.  :-/
  15. I believe the key word is perhaps "used" in this request..... Well. ONE of the key words is "used". "Available" is another one, and so is "Bell". You know what I mean.
  16. 3122 wrote:Smithy's got one, he's always complaining about its age. Maybe he needs to get rid? It was YOU who started this rumour eh? You cheeky young scrote!  ;D ;D I'm very pleased with my system and Bell ends thanks - yes, fair enough, I do go on about it a bit. Had it for years, great investment, not too loud, blah blah blah.   :B I commend Scott for his good taste but I've no intention of flogging mine though, nope. I'm too young for that yet.
  17. Very good indeed. I'm impressed he named his son "Spitfire" - he must be a proper Triumph fan.
  18. That's broken Markus. You'll want to replace that I think.
  19. New is it? Find the receipt and go try lying to someone. Ahem.

You don't recognise M's back end Rob? That must be someone else's. His un's red - Babboon style.  ;)
  21. "We can put the controls in the back seat" eh? Our steering's already controlled by Memsahib wherever she happens to be sitting, so no big deal.
  22. MikeyB wrote:Are you looking to sell? That's his first post Mike - you haven't even said "Welcome to the Forum" yet! Forgive the rudeness, DRF - Welcome to the Forum. Nice people here, and quite knowledgable, some, although spotting the different models of GT6 can be tough. Those look like nice wheels. Would you like to sell them?  ;)
  23. I don't think it matters either, but it must be on, else one of the ignition wires may fry, and a small fire ensue, producing a lot of smoke and excitement. Ask me how I know.  :)
  24. Here! Me "reliable"? Now steady on! Yes they look like Mangels to me - but possibly only since I've never seen chrome Wellers to compare them to.  :B And I'm well known for trying to sound authorative when on dodgy ground. But then you probably knew that. There's a young bloke driving a Morris Marina around (the shame!) with my Mangels on - we could ask him for some more detailed photos of the centres, to make sure, I suppose.  :) Here, why haven't you got wires? Everyone should have wires.  (dance)
