But buy quality, not "budget" stuff.
tyreshopper has some fair priced stuff (national tyres online) and can be a good bartering point when dealing with local sellers.

Could get a set for £120, but wouldn't put them on a car.
The avon cr322 were a good tyre, used on the caterham racing series as the only tyre they could use. They are available for £160 a set.

Toyo 350's
Not tried these myself as yet but I have heard good reports of them from some of the guys on Locostbuilders forum.

I have some of the Avons Clive has suggested fitted to my Locost but cannot comment on their performance as I have not got it on the road as yet.  :-/

I received the wheels today and must confess to being somewhat disappointed at their appearance. The castings are all pitted (little air holes in surface. They seem to be unused. Is this how cobra slots were or should the surface be smooth as modern painted alloys are. Disappointed.  :-(
