"Trees, Dirt and Squirrels"

This year, the Club Triumph Essex Winter Rally is moving away from Essex, renaming itself and going further north into Suffolk and Norfolk to explore new and previously unused roads there.

There is also a new organising team for this event and no doubt some new ideas too.

It is still a 12 Car Navigational Rally, will take place on Sunday 18th November 2018, with briefing and plotting starting at 09:00, first car away at 10:00 in Thetford, Norfolk and  finishing some 4 hours  at the Angel Inn, Larling, Norfolk, NR16 2QU, just in time for lunch.

It uses some interesting routes and many minor roads, none of which are damaging to your car.  This rally will be a round of the 2018 Club Triumph Driver’s Challenge and Rallies Mini-Series.

It is suitable beginners and experts alike, with classes tailored to the differing navigation skill levels; there will be a marked map available for Beginners to use if required, so there is no need to not enter because you feel it will be too difficult.

Entry Forms and Regulations are available from the Competitions then Rallies tabs/buttons at the top of the page, then scroll down to this specific event.

Many thanks to Mark, Peter and the marshals for a super event today in sunny Norfolk.  The weather was perfect; the choice of roads was perfect and everything was just right.

The Expert navigation made us scratch our heads a bit but we (well, Colin actually) got it eventually.  Very clever and enjoyable.

Thanks again for a great competitive day out.

Mike and Colin

Thanks Mike and Colin.

Results have now been checked and code boards collected. One code board on a LWR on section 2 has gone missing overnight so it makes no difference to the placements. Also a miss count on the fails for car 6 and 3 means they both drop 1 fail each but it makes no difference to the results.

Mike Banks/Colin Wake - Mk3 Spitfire - Expert     1st overall 2 Fails

Roger Saunt/Richard Warr - 2000 Mk1 - Novice    2nd and first Novice 4 Fails and 15:30 on tiebreaker.

Dale Barker/Nigel Abdullah - 2000 - Expert          3rd and first Expert 4 Fails and 27:30 on tiebreaker.

Clive Senior/Gill Senior - Toledo - Novice            4th 6 fails

Leighton Ball/Alison Ball - 2.5Pi MkII - Novice      5th 9 Fails

Tim Hunt/Pierre Miles - TR4A - Novice                 6th 21 fails

Annie Andrews/Ruth Jennaway - 2500TC - Beginner   None competitive class 5 Fails would have been 4th if competing.

I hope you all had a great time it has been a lot of hard work but fun setting it up. Its now time to have a well earned rest.

Mark Rutter and Pete Jackson.

Great rally Mark, thank you.

The clues were challenging - the roads also, especially the forest track! I must improve my counting of junctions though, we were one out on two of the LWRs. All in all a really good day. Thank you for letting us borrow your rule, need to add a scale rule to my bag of bits.

Richard and Roger

P.s. Good of you to arrange such terrific weather for us too.
