partsaver
Just wonder how many litres of juice should fit in a Spitty tank, 1979 1500 if it makes any difference as I filled up early from the gauge reading empty and it was full on 27 litres? Spitfire2500
Workshop manual for 1500 Spit says 7.25 gallons = 33 litres. Sounds like there was a few litres sloshing about in the bottom of the tank!
Martins Stag
I am sure many years ago someone fitter a larger TR petrol tank into a Spitfire. Does anyone remember this and know any details?Martin
Rich_s
after running out once while gauge reading above zero, i drained the tank from the fuel pump pickup until it was empty, then turned on ignition to let gauge warm up for about 10mins (coil and ignition module disconnected) then set gauge at empty so i know when it is about to run out.i only normally get about 25litres at most in mine, soemtiems 26 but not very often, guessing the rest is below the pickup i guess.rich

Whereas the MkIV & 1500 have the pickup pipe through the top. Easier to get every last drop out of an earlier tank. 8)
