roger.england
I'm about to replace the camshaft in my newly acquired (rebuilt) 1147 engine. I'm rather confused (easily done) regarding the camshaft journals. I'm being asked if I want a camshaft with large or small journals. I don't have a micrometer to hand but the journals on the camshaft I've removed are around 46.5mm measured with a vernier. Is this a large or small journal? ThanksRoger
Alex
I thought the 1147 were all small journal......

RobPearce
I believe all 1147 blocks are small-journal and all 1300 are large. The odd-ball is the Mk3 Spitfire, where the camshaft itself is a carry-over Mk2 (small journal) part fitted to the large journal block with sleeve bearings (which are not easy to obtain). DanM
The 1147 mk2 spit also uses the large journal block with sleeves as per the mk3
