mazfg
Nut should be tightened to 70 lbs/ft from my reading of the workshop manual. It should already be pre-loaded from before so no need to set that up. Just tighten to 70 lbs/ ft is my understanding.
glang
just to check: this procedure is for the early type diff which your herald should have and is identified by having a castellated nut/split pin arrangement....
Pete Lewis
And to add you should lock the coupling , to apply the torque , not wind up the transmissionlike two bolts thro the coupling holes and a bar between them.pete
Neilriser
Many thanks guys yes it is the diff with the mentioned nut and split pin, when i released the nut i clamped the square coupling plate with a large wrench which was clamped in a vice [ 70 lbs is some torque to release]i will just repeat the proceedure when doing up.Many thanks
