v8dean
Quote:Luckily I went up from the Austrian side - 40 plus hairpins - not so bad going down the Italian side. Are we doing the opposite? We also had reasonably good weather for the 10CR2003, what loss of speed could we expect if it were to rain on any of these more callenging parts of the route. Just a thought.Have the dates now officially changed?
Raider
yes, we are doing the opposite. We will have spent the day in northern Italy, by the lakes (including Lesa) and then going up the Stelvio the proper way! ;)We'll be handing out the route proper at the start again.Dates provisionally are Thursday 8th September to Sunday 11th 2005.Now on the club's calendar of events! We just have this year and the RBRR to do first though. :)
Ellis
I'll book the holiday from work.... ;D and reserve a tow truck at Folkstone. :P
Raider
I have been approached to see if it would be possible to make the 10CR less manic and more social than the first time.I won't reveal the name of the plonker that came up with that :P but having thought about it, maybe it's not such a bad idea.We would be aiming to come back on the Sunday evening. As I would be taking the Monday off work why not stay over the channel for another night's camping and travel over on the Monday morning ??) That would give us a chance for a second overnight and more socialising.I think it's a goer, probably in Belgium somewhere (I have heard they have some decent beer in that country). Not compulsory perhaps but at least it's an option.I'll look into this after the RBRR if people like the idea. v8dean
Well if the social stop is going to be in Belgium( which i would welcome), I'm sure that i have a good location in mind which would suit all drivers.meaning a choice of camping/budget rooms/hotel. My spare room would also be available ,but i dont know who'd want that...........

Give that man a banana! We may have failed at this years RBRR but we WILL suceed at the 10CR!!!Must invest in a Sat Nav system first tho......... :P
Deleted User
Sat nav? What's that?Just another thing that can go wrong, get dropped, run out of batteries, get wet, etc.God forbid that anyone would look at a map!Or even do a bit of pre planning."Okay everyone. Follow me!""But where's the car park exit?""Bear with me a minute everyone. I haven't switched my sat nav on yet."
GigGleR
I do want you to bear in mind that I managed to get lost within 3 miles of the start of this years RBRR. I just want something to blame when I get lost in the middle of France ;D
Deleted User
Too much reliance on technology.Switch off brain.Switch on sat nav.
Raider
On this map v sat nav thing.I will be marking up a set of maps for every entrant, that's alot of highlighting so I rather hope the maps will be used! :oHaving said that you won't have much of a choice as you won't get the route until the start so there :PGlad people like the idea of another night in Johnny Foreigner land. I think it will probably be near Calais actually but if you have a location Dean in Belgium please e-mail me the details.
