JumpingFrog
I'm currently working on refurbishing the rear end of my Herald - I'm trying to work out if these axle shafts are okay to reuse? There is some polishing where the needle rollers run as well as a small amount of pitting as shown in the pictures below.Thanks,David. Clive
My approach is to see if anything catches a fingernail. If it does, in the bin. Difficult from pictures, but that pitting worries me.
Richard B
Polishing fine, wear bad. ps I'm with Clive. For the price of a new shaft do you want to do the job again? 🤔

JumpingFrog
Thanks for the replies, I feared as much.Quoted from Richard B Polishing fine, wear bad. ps I'm with Clive. For the price of a new shaft do you want to do the job again? Any ideas on the quality of the new replacements? The design of them at the yoke seems a little different too. Richard B
The Canley Classics ones are good. I don't know about the others.
heraldcoupe
Quoted from JumpingFrog Any ideas on the quality of the new replacements? The design of them at the yoke seems a little different too. There were quality issues with the yoke being insecure on the shaft. This was around 1994 and I've heard of very few problems since,Cheers,Bill.
