WIMPUS
Hi, Friend of mine has some Dolly Sprint alloys that he wants to refurb. Now how to get the clear coat off etc ? I'm thinking of using paint stripper.polishing up the edge is no problem, painting and new clear coat will be done semi-professional Also, would this be semi-gloss or high ? (the black parts)
Mark Hammond
Paint stripper or a mild media blasting should help. For a more natural lock, I'd go semi-gloss black, I cannot recall what the original was but it was probably a full on gloss.Cheers,Mark
RobPearce
I thought they were originally semi-gloss.The process used by the place that refurbished my GT6's cosmics was: - Media blast to remove all old paint and corrosion - Paint / coat all over in black - Mount on a lathe and diamond cut the highlights - Apply lacquer
Beans
Quoted from RobPearce ... The process used by the place that refurbished my GT6's cosmics was ... The place I used to refurbish my Revolutions used the same process. They only had to polish the rims, but they also straightened the wheels ...
