Mac
Horn goes off as you turn the wheel.Had the button and horn brush out, seem ok. Had the wheel off, slip ring seems ok.Anything obvious it might be that's causing the contact with the wheel or steering column as the wheel turns? heraldcoupe
Excessive play at the top steering column bush can cause the steering wheel boss to make contact with the horn slip ring. Poorly made aftermarket steering wheels suffer the same problem even if the bushes are in good order.Cheers,Bill.
smithy
I'd bet Bill's right, but I'd also check the leads for chafing/earthing, since I seem to remember having this problem, way way back when... ;)
junkuser
The sliding section in the steering column could be adjusted too low.
Rumpith
I've had the same problem. You need to remove the steering wheel - on the back of the boss there's a raised circle about 3mm wide all around the edge, if you grind this back so that it's flush with the rest of the boss, then paint it, it should fix the problem. Mac
Thanks guys.Think I've found it.Routed the horn slip ring wire wrong, straight throguh, should go under the metal plate in the column methinks to keep it out of the indicator switch return mechanism. In fact the indicators were returning sometimes, sometimes not. Wire had been ripped off slip ring and was touching steering column. Soldered back on, should be sorted and the indicators should return.Too much.

Deleted User
Mine did the same after fitting a Motolisa wheel. I added a washer (made for the job) and no further problems. The wheel was catching the horn slip ring. Rob

smithy
Bit overdone I'd say - looks like it's added a couple of ounces, surely? :P
