glang Posted July 4, 2017 Share Posted July 4, 2017 Hi all, just a few quick questions about single rail gearbox:Where does the 1" extra length come from as compared to a 3 rail? I believe this is the same with OD or without.Is the gearlever in the same place on both boxes?What is the carbuncle/cylinder thing half way up the gearlever on the pics Ive seen of single rails?Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Nick Jones Posted July 4, 2017 Share Posted July 4, 2017 The 1" extra is in the tailshaft (non-OD) or the OD/adapter plate (OD). Both are 1" longer than their 3 rail equivalent.Gear lever is in the same place.The "carbuncle" is a rubber heat/vibration isolator. I used to chop them out and weld the two halves back together.
