He was coming up to participate in the Little Devils that seems to have just been canned. But... it maybe that someone is coming the other way and then back up to Morcambe. I will let you know. Cheers Colin
  2. Now if you had said a few days ago, i could have got you one up to Morcambe.. Maybe towards the end of this week I think, and then probably in about 3 weeks time. How desperate?? Cheers
  3. AlanChatterton wrote: If it is someone off this forum, I have to be honest, I thought he might have talked to me, knowing how much I need one of these!!! I can think of only 1 person in WGC likely to be selling (and buying!) Triumph parts and that is Doug Thompson. And if it is him he probably hadn't realised you were still looking. He is always worth a shout for any 2000 parts having had so many through his hands. I dread to think how many rubber seals we discarded when we cleared out the garages at Brundish, there was probably estate tailgate seals amongst them... :-( Cheers
  4. I can't help but think the seller is a regular on this forum. Perhaps one that has just acquired another stash of 2000 parts?? Cheers

  6. I don't think a 948 has attempted to tackle the modern higher mileage RBRR routes. They were doing it when it was maximum use of main roads. Not to say it couldn't still be done, the Atlas nearly did it, and that can't be as fast as a 948 Herald. Cheers Colin
  7. 4058 wrote:May I ask guys, What is the last date you can sign up for entry to the 10cr?  :) Just so we know a definite target date to rebuild the mk2 spit, then we will know if we can go or not! (I think we will be able to get it done, it's just when it's in the paintshop, you know what they are like, say it will only take so long, then that ends up being twice as long) The last day to sign up is usually about 2-3 days after it opens, as it fills up in 2-3 days. There are usually a few last minute retirements so spaces do become available, sometimes. Cheers Colin
  8. GT6 is smaller than Mk1 PI. If you put a PI wheel in a GT6 you won't get it as well.. :-) Cheers Colin
  9. willows40 wrote:thats a new one, is that the one to cut up and make a pickup out of ;D Maybe.... Depends on how much more rot i find in the roof and rear pillars.. :-(
  10. willows40 wrote: i won`t colin as starting on painting it next week then its off to its new owner. did you find anything out about the estate cheers andy You don't hang about! I will correct my guess.... I suspect the new owner will find it about 18 inches below where you last saw it. Ah, the estate, patience is required as price is not yet at a sensible level. If you are looking for another 2000 to weld up, the "Damson Dog" is in need... :-) It will be a patcher-upper I suspect, rather than a restorer. Worth fishing out of the garden, but is revealing some bodges as I dig. It is amazing how much welding can be done with a tube of silicon bathroom sealant... :-(
  11. willows40 wrote:mk1 pi estate failed to finish in 2010, no oil to rocker shaft as screw that hold everything together vanished never to be seen again cheers andy I'm fairly sure you will find it again one day... :-) My bet is about 18inches from where it was last seen. Cheers Colin
  12. It sounds like a lack of pressure in the overdrive. Have you reseated the ball bearing in the pressure releif valve. Cheers
  13. Having a spring on just one side of the rear upright will give rear wheel steer even if everything seems very solid. Even with rose joints and a sturdy top link the back end will still fidget under you with a single offset spring. Lewis Jones has been trying to sort his Supercharged Spitfire for a while now. Cheers Colin

MikeyB wrote:similar on ebay recently 190730540325 Thats the idea, but that one is a monster. Very cheap though for an A-type, and a 28% one. The Land Rovers have Fairey Overdrives, big buggers as well. The J-type version is much more compact that I have seen. Must be Volvo or Transit van, something like that. Cheers Colin

Of course it could just be my defective memory, not getting any younger you know! You got any contact detals for him?? Other option of course is an overdrive. Is it the Volvo ones that are a separate unit? Have and input and an output flange? Cheers Colin

Shame you haven't had thre opportunity again since.. ;-) I woudl suspect Doug that the doctors do not have a clue what they are talking about and have messed up the dates good and proper. Patience would appear to be a virtue. Cheers Colin

It is possible to produce a 2.9:1 diff for a Triumph. Involves fitting a ford internals into a Triumph casing. That would give you a nice long-legged cruiser. Cheers Colin

  22. No, I don't think he has, but I reckon you have Alex. No worries about oil pressure there.. they never need servicing you know, damn clever Japanese. :-)
