  2. Reg Darren came in search of you to return a newly purchased bottle, but failed to find you I beleive. He kept boiling up and loosing gears I think. Cheers Colin
  3. MikeyB wrote:what after all the grief you gave me when I first suggested that's what i might do for 2012?   :X I stand to be corrected, but I beleive your exact words were "I am never ever going to do the event ever again, it has just been too much grief and hassle... :-) And you have been proved true about the grief, only another 20-odd years to go..  ;) MikeyB wrote:I could always drop Daisy around for you to prepare  :) Careful checking of the records show that I actually did more preparation for taking Daisy in 2010 that you did, I sourced and collected the replacement gearbox... You did bugger all :-) Anyway, you haven't been reading what I wrote the same as Mr Radders, a MODEL that has not taken part before. So I am on the look out for a Roadster.. And YOU'RE going in the Dickie seat for being such a miserable bugger... :P Cheers Colin
  4. thebrookster wrote: Thoroughly enjoyed the night, I second Colin's call for some sort of ID system, I knew a few guys from Stoneleigh but a lot went unrecognised! Turns out I spoke to Andy Cook, Richard Brake and few others and never knew who they were!! Not counting the number of people I passed though the barrier!! Tim I know what we need. Big numbers on the sides of the cars. That will help everyone recognise us. ;) Colin
  5. 6780 wrote: The reality is that within other clubs the emphasis is more on polishing than out and out driving,-i know what i enjoy most..,   cheers,     Laurence,-entry 63    Laurence Some members like polishing more than driving... But they did do it in an Acclaims... :-) They also like wearing dresses, but that is an entirely different matter  ??)
  6. Clive I have a nut welded to the sump of teh PI and a temp sender fitted to it. Work of a previous owner, doesn't leak at all. Just need to get the wiring to it now. Cheers Colin
  7. Jason wrote: So, to answer the question, yes it's still on and mostly functions but it is the first thing I am going to get replaced. Jason I can recommend the (Phoenix?) single pipe system like what Mr Helm uses. We have never come close to removing it even when landing after getting a bit of air under the tyres. Sounds good as well.. :-) Cheers Colin
  8. 391 wrote: Hmmm.......... My Mk2 estate has never done it before. Shall I Stag V8 it before then?...... ;) No, No, No, you have got it all wrong, I mean a model that has never done it before. There are a couple still left even after all this time. Roadster anyone???? :-)
  9. ferny wrote: Thanks to Dave for being an excellent team member. He wants to do another RBRR and was asking how much big saloons go for on the way back. A lot more than they were a few months ago! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1965-MK1-TRIUMPH-2000-MANUAL-WITH-OVERDRIVE-1yrs-MOT-and-TAX-VERY-RARE-/320997576587?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4abcf24f8b would have been £500 at the start of the year, £1000 and only listed for a day. (It is a very solid car apparently, so perhaps not that surprising) Cheers Colin
  10. Spitfire2500 wrote: A 2000TC, a s***load of welding, a respray, complete front and rear suspension overhaul, gearbox rebuild, new diff seals, drive- and propshaft overhaul...and I'm sure there'll be loads of stuff I don't know about yet  ??) OK, so that is next weekend sorted, what you going to do for the other 103?? :-)
  11. Rent myself out as a pay driver. Or perhaps try to find a car that has never taken part before and do something stupid like entering it.... :-)
  12. AlanChatterton wrote: Yeah yeah yeah. After 2300 miles in the hateful little piece of crap, I can honestly say..... never again. The choice was a cheap Acclaim or not compete........ next time I think I'll not compete. It will be on ebay tonight.............. trust me. I sense someone who deep down really loved his little Japanese car and teh way it got him round without any issues what-so-ever, and is trying to cover it up so he can look like a real "TriumphMan" Trust me it;s all bluster from Mr Polisher. Or perhaps thats teh real reason, when he polished it it still looked as good as before and he ended up unfulfilled. :-)
  13. large or small crank engine if 4-cyl??? I think all 6-cyl are the same (will need to go outsode to see what sockets I have) Cheers Colin
  14. lagerzok wrote:I drove most of 10 CR in James Shackfords Mk1 PI with between 80 and 90 psi depending on temperature. Went OK up to about 4000. Mine revved ok to about 3500. but when you lifted off to cruise the gauge would keep flicking down and the car would lurch. I think the pumps / prv's are cavitating and the air is getting back into the pump and causing the drops. When it was cruising OK it would sometimes creep up to 90psi. Very odd. Cheers
  15. 31 I think. And as for what McJim say, I agree. Perhaps a sign at the start of the Layby "Have your roadbooks Open Ready" or similar
  16. Tim I have sent you a "thoughts email". For everyones else benefot I thought Six-penny worked OK, I hadn't noticed the double booking. Car park was a bit tighter than Pimperne, but was very well marshalled. Lands End worked very well, Tebay was vastly superior to Lancaster (though i suspect that Lambrini would have had excellent results if the Floor-Show had been there....,.  ;) Do you need one on the A10 near Papworth Everard?? I think the marshalls resisted demands to get early signatures quite well, that helps a lot! Cheers Colin
  17. Tim I may never forgive you for including that. It gave me the perfect opportunity to make lots of work for myself. Fuelling - Needs new Fuel pump (got all the way round with 85psi and a mis-fire), Mk2 tank and it's bigger outlet, do away with swirlpot etc etc maybe evern fit a Bodge conversion...... LH rear indicator stops regularly new prop has failed, sliding jont again i suspect rear gearbox mount (may be related to prop woes) voltage reg has packed up Alternator very noisy and started to struggle with all the lights on main beam. knock from rear end on takeup of clutch stiff clutch pedal that now moans correct shape of front arch after the tyre "twatted" it on full lock over a bump. Only the Alternator noise was present before we started, and I thought I had fixed the mis-fire but it came back on way to start. Cheers Colin
  18. timbancroft61 wrote:Nice to meet you Brookster. Thanks for manning the gate! Ah, so it was you on the gate! Tim, suggestion for 2014. Can you arrange big signs to hang round peoples necks with their names on. I could at least greet Chris Sherrington by name up at Edinburgh, he now being so well known. (aren't his hands absolutley enormous, I have no idea how he gets them up behind the dash of teh car) Cheers Colin
  19. Now that I am many many miles away from McJim, I can now confess that having seen what excellent value for money the toll into Scotland was (less than the Dartford brodge even before they put it up this weekend)  I tipped Jason off that I thought everyone should do the decent thing and pay up on the way over the border. And when Mr Chinn told everyone at the drivers meet what a great laugh it would be to annoy that "miserable old scotsman" the deal was done. Jim, we are so, so sorry..... NOT! :P
  20. 1937 wrote:Confused... about an hour ago i sent an sms to the number in the book and also sent an email, Tim responded to the email but neither message has appeared on the message diary... anyone else experiencing similar? I have sent emails, I did have to register again (terrible that it doens't remember me from 2 years ago.. :-) ) Not tried an sms yet. Was your phone registered? Cheers Colin
  21. Keith wrote:Thanks for reminding people about that Cook1e, it's an undocumented feature but useful one, if your mobile device adds a signature to the message that you can't get rid of just put 'EOM' at the end of message and the software will ignore everything fom that point. For historical reasons it is known as the 'Jason Filter'. It looks like Mr weaver needs to apply the "jason Filter", also car 106 even more so... :-)
  22. trigger wrote: Hmmm Tom's still working on it  :-/ I think he has seen a tiny little glimmer at the end of the tunnel, I just wish (and so does he now) that he had rung me Tuesday morning... :-( He has taken at least one, if not 2 teeth off the Crownwheel in the diff. Cheers Colin
  23. Team 23 are reporting a few issues (been on the phone to Tom). Spare car being readied... :-(
