  1. Have sent you an update on a PM. cheers mike
  2. I recently sold my spare ones on Ebay. Here is the details and the suppliers name cheers mike
  3. You might be right. I brought the uprights very cheaply from someone on a boat forum who also had a GT6 but hadn't fitted them. I have been tidying my garage, getting rid of all the old TR6 stuff, and 're-found' them on a shelve so was mussing about putting them on the Herald along with the bigger disks etc I was going to fit them to my GT6 but don't have it anymore, in fact I sold it about 4 years ago. cheers mike
  4. I have brought a couple of Canelys trunnionless uprights from a GT6 (but never used). So what do I need to fit them to my Herald 13/60? I guess new hubs, stub axle, hubs, calliper and disks. Anything else, am I missing something? cheers mike
  5. I know someone who had a new (6 months) E class Merc. Had a full service including oil and filter change. Starts to drive up M4 towards London, outside lane, filters splits, engine looses all the oil and seizes. Stuck in fast lane and the police had to shut the M4 while his car was recovered! MB accepted filter was faulty and had to replace engine... mike
  6. Sorry try this link might not work as it via FB.... https://vimeo.com/43474373 mike
  7. here https://vimeo.com/207644905 Herald saloon with roof taken off and stuffed full of batteries and a 75 mile range. love the charging lead, with male plugs on both ends..... Mike
  8. A bit OT but. We have just come back from a trip down thru the alps to Italy (Modena) and back (sort of "not a 10CR trip"..). Anyway what struck me was how much traffic there was and how many delays, traffic and roadworks,  on the Germany, Italian and Austrian motorways. I don't remember it being this bad before. Also once you were off the motorways in Germany (and lesser existent, Italy and Austria) the traffic calming and speed cameras seems more common than I remember from previous trips. All of which slows down your progress and how many miles you can easily do each day.... mike
  9. you need to look at the signal coming from the sensor (or amplifier) output to see if there is anything there. If you don't have an oscilloscope try using you PC (assuming you have one). There are some nice software solutions that us the PC sound card as an A/D and then displays the signal. Feed the signal into the mic or line input and then run the program. Its bandwidth will be limited but you should see something. If you cant see any signal from the sensor when its knocking then the MS will never detect it. Actually if its a Piezo device you wont see any thing without the amplifier as its needs a very high input impedance amplifier.... I will leave the issue of if it worth doing/possible to Nick and Rob.... mike
  10. How many failed to return under there own power this year? mike
  11. Easy to do online (covers all towns in France introducing pollution control). here http://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr You will need to scan your reg documents and then reduce it to less than 400k (thus making it unreadable...) and attach it to your application. The sticker was taking  about 3 weeks to arrive but they usually send an email with a temporary sticker that you can use. Did this for our camper van earlier this year as we were planning to drive thru  France. Mike
  12. interesting shape of battery what is it? BTW enjoy your posts always so much work! mike
  13. I didn't really know Martin but we have done a few 10CR's (not always successfully...) and they have always been great fun and something special for me and Libby. It has also given us the confidence to go off with other Triumph friends for long trips in Europe, usually involving steep hills/mountains...... SO thank you very much Martin for the inspiration... And very best thoughts for your family Mike and Libby.
  14. Surprised that it has not been mentioned on the forum but the RBRR raised over £95,000 for the Guide dogs for the blind. Wonderful. From Facebook: Jason Chinn.. Feeling amazed, surprised and very proud of my club. Over £95,000 raised for Guide Dogs for the blind by our Round Britain Reliability Run. Big cheque presented last night to the charity at our annual dinner. Go Club Triumph! cheers mike
  15. I have a copy if the red workshop manual. If you still need a scan I can do one later this week for you and email it. mike
  16. You can use a PC program called TYRE to generate a series of waypoints for an older TomTom (new ones dont do waypoints) or a Garmin. All you need is  a couple of hours on the PC working thru the Road book to generate the files that can be down loaded to the Satnav. Its also a good way of seeing where the route is going as it uses Google earth and you can switch between roads and sat images. Yes the Sat Nav can be very useful when you are tired and your co driver is kipping... Mike
  17. Lots of job loses in SLB since the oil price crashed... Didn't know there was a Triumph owner in engineering. Mike
  18. Stone house. Schlumberger has an engineering centre there. Visited it lots of time when I worked for SLB. Difficult times in the oil services industry now. Mike
  19. Keith is right, if you are both tired stop and have a break, better to finish late than have an accident.... Mike
  20. there are now some average speed cameras on the A1 north of Peterborough and very badly signed, easy to miss them. mike
  21. Team 106 is out as Libby wont be able to do it.. Have fun and a good trip and probably see you at the start. Email on its way to Jason and Tim.... Mike and Libby.
  22. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did mean the accelerator pump! I will refit the carb tomorrow and do some checking of the electrics, I did notice that the coils felt hot or at least warmer than I expected so will try substituting that and change the rotor arm for a spare one. I don't think its a Lucas one. We have had the boat for about 10 years and up to now she has always behaved her self. Yes the BSS does not allow glass bowls so it has an all metal one. Will open the filter and have a look. Might see your boat around as we are a few miles down the river from Ely in the way to Cambridge. cheers mike
