Ok this has nothing to do with Triumphs... Anyone have any experience with 1970 Ford escort 1100 cc carburettor? I haven't sold out and brought an Escort but we have a boat that has a ford engine, basically a marinised 1970 1100cc crossflow engine. The problem is its difficult to start, runs rough and coughs and stall when you open the throttle. Done all the usual things, plugs valve clearance, new fuel etc and am left with the carb. I have stripped it down and cleaned it but I have no idea how it works (oh for an SU..) with jets and drillings all over the body! It has a fuel injections system that squirts fuel in to the inlet when you open the throttle I have a feeling this is putting so much fuel into the engine that it goes very rich but am not really sure. Any suggestions welcome, guess I should look for ford Escort support forum! BTW the boat is a 1970 Freeman 23 Mk2. cheers mike

I think a lot of your problems are a lack of ventilation under the car cover. an you get one that is able to breath? Otherwise get some condensation absorbing packs (most boat suppliers sell them). They absorb water from the atmosphere and work very well. I put them in our boat over the winter and its surprising how much water they collect.  certainly keep the interior of the boat nice and dry with no condensation. Mike

Having done the RBRR in the Herald and failed in the GT6 we (myself and daughter Libby) weren't going to try another one. However having done the 2015 10CR in the TR6 we have got sucked into the excitement of the 2016 one so we are in! Ask me early Sun morning at some motorway service station if it was a good idea... all depends what is on the circuit.... For example for the main lights then the lamps are usually 44 watts each that's 88 watts divide by 12 to get the current. the current determines the fuse rating and the cable size. The function of the fuse is to cut the current off if the circuit gets a short and it has to do this before the cables  fails (cable catches alight, car burns out...). So what are you putting onto your 10 fuse circuits? cheers mike

Had a great 10CR with Libby and our TR6. Managed to get round without any major problems (or broken diffs). SO a big thank you to everyone who organised the event, great trip. Mike

That's we are using. Route drawn on it (does hurt drawing on a map...) and coloured tabs added to the pages. Sometimes the continuation page number on the map aren't correct and take you to the wrong page, hence the added tabs. I have also printed out a Google page showing the whole days route so you get an overview of where you are going or have been! Mike

Is the 10CR message board working? Have tried to post a SMS message but nothing happened and have tried re-registering still cant seem to post a message? Could someone try posting so I know whether the problem is at my end. cheers mike

think we might be ready to go. So far... new rad, new wind screen, new engine, gearbox and diff oil, new rear shocks, new O/S bearings, new  alternator, new MU set so we can make it go lean when we are in the alps. wideband Lambda sensor so we know when we are running lean,  lots of new injectors, new front spots, new full/dip switch. Libby is ready, baby sitter arranged (Husband and Grannies), maps sorted TomTom ready and loaded. What can go wrong........ Mike and Libby..

Tim yes I was upset by the email. I have had a long very busy day at work so maybe I over reacted but I still think it was more aggressive than needed. And I apologise for not quoting it exactly "....Can I ask you ALL to speak with your teams and ask them to refrain from publishing the exact route of the event on the internet otherwise I fear I will have to recommend to the CT committee that the event is cancelled." I don't think I had shared the route with anyone. I did mention it to my wife as she asked where we were going and I was going to share it with Libby, as navigator, but probably wont do that now in case she tells someone else about it..... time to go offline and have a very large glass of wine..... mike

What the hell is going on? I have had an extremely aggressive, threatening email about this from Andy. To quote If we don't stop he will withdraw his route and the whole 10CR will be cancelled. I really object to be told off for something I have not done, do we really believe that 100's of people are going to follow us around Europe? If so then we must make sure that we don't go in any convoy of more that 1 car in case it attracts attention. If someone has published this 'copyright' route on the forum then ask them to remove it. That's all that's needed not this aggressive spamming. I am very unhappy. mike

I have one on the herald, been there a few years. I have fitted mine to the quarter window glass (using rubber). having the window  closed helps to keep it in place. Does mean opening the window is risky... mike

can we stop the count down at the top of the page? Each time I look at the CT forum and realise how few days are left  I start to panic and I don't have many jobs still to do! Mike

same idea here. I have a vacuum oil sucker (use it to change the oil on our boat) managed to get a lot of rather black oil out of mine. Its easier if the oil is warm otherwise you spend a lot of time keeping the vacuum going. Now filled with nice new clean oil. mike

a few more jobs done this weekend to the TR. changed diff oil, a bit black and nasty so will change the gearbox oil as well. fitted relays to the headlight ccts and ran a  new cable to them. Thinking about doing something about the floor mounted dim switch, really do not like it... refitted the electric fan to the radiator on a new bracket> the new radiator matrix is too close to get tie wraps thru. changed some of the dash dial lights to LED, will do the rest if I can get to them... fitted some rear speakers. checked the rear offside shock not happy with it so will get another one (this is a second hand unit, as the arm fell of the original one a couple of weeks ago). greased steering rack I think this was the first time it had been done in a long time! still a list of stuff to do but its coming along. mike

I have MX5 seats in my Herald convertible. Very comfortable, much better than the originals. Mine are early ones with the built in head rests. You will need to make up some brackets to fit them to the floor. In the TR world you can buy premade brackets but I don't think any one makes them for Heralds. mike

Any idea when the meeting is? Planning a few weekend away and don't want to miss the meeting. cheers mike

As the hand brake is operated the arm should act on the wheel and the adjuster acting on the brake shoe move out wards. Also you need the small H shaped spacer on the  lever on the left hand side of the cylinder otherwise the auto adjustment will not  work correctly. I had a steep learning curve with the brakes my Gt6  to get the auto adjustment working correctly. Mike

I know 2 other teams that I was discussing the trip with on Monday. I am about to email them and we will  arrange our own route, between hotels. This is fine and we will have a great time but if this is the plan for the 10CR this year then I am not sure why CT is involved with it at all? As everyone else has said the great part of the 10CR is meeting up in strange places, and times, with other CT members..... at this rate we might just see each other at Rolduc... mike

Tried XJS seats in my herald convertible, very comfortable but there is not enough room for them to recline. Sold them on and got the usual MX5 seats... mike

Might be worth trying to import it into TYRE and then exporting it out again. TYRE seems to handle most formats. mike
