  1. Remember that the Road Book needs to be used so that times of Controls can be found!!! Dave: As for the pies, umm looks like you enjoy 'savoury products'-an AJP term that one! :)
  2. Just sent this to all entrants, however many seem to have not informed us about new e-mail addresses: Hi all,    Many thanks for attending the RBRR Drivers Meeting on Sunday, it was the largest attendance ever, so thanks for making the effort.    I believe many took the oppurtunity to use the drive over as shake down test of their car, a good idea. Think one or two may now be undertaking last minute repairs. Please see attached the following documents: 1. RBRR Advice Notes 2. CWC Charity Pledge form 3. Bulletin that lists the Control opening times for anyone not doing the event who may wish to visit a Control. Many thanks to Mike Weaver for pointing out the problem with the M48 Severn Road bridge. This looks like it will be shut over the weekend of the event, so a different route should be plotted. Nigel Abdullah has come up with these two suggestions: 'I have researched the M48 Severn River Crossing & it is definitely closed over weekend of RBRR. Suggestions are: 1.  Continue on route until reaching M48 at junction 2 & then follow diversion which takes vehicles to J23a of M4 where they will need to do a 180, then exit onto M49 at junction 22, joining the M5 at J18. This adds approx. 9 miles but may be favourable in case the closure is not on for some reason. It also means use of one of the best roads on the RBRR. 2. Take the A449 instead of going to Monmouth, which joins the M4 at J24, exit at J22, join M5 at J18. This works out approx. 6 miles less, but not such good roads! I know which I’d to choose. Hope useful.' I will be including within the Final Instructions details of as many roadwork issues, these will be taken from the Highway Agency's website. Remember that most Road Closures are undertaken at night or at weekends to minimise delays. The 'Finals' will be given out at the start. Stickers: as Jason mentioned, please put these onto the car in the following positions: CT RBRR Sticker: Front Doors CWC Sticker: Rear Door or Rear Wing CT RBRR Outline Sticker: Rear Panel When sticking to the car use slightly soapy water and a clean rag, this does work! Polish the panel before sticking them onto the car. Have to say this, but the Club will not be held responsible for any paint damage that is caused by these stickers. Please note that these stickers are designed for sticking onto car paint and are low tack. Only one team/car has ever had issues with paint problems out of the 873no that have completed the event. Tina and Andy Lacey will be at the start seling CT product, including RBRR 2012 tee shirts. I am sorry that we have not produced polo shirts for this RBRR, when we asked around the impression was formed that round neck tee shirts were wanted. I intend to ask Andy Martin to produce a generic RBRR polo shirt after the event for sale in the near future. Please forward this e-mail to your co-drivers. I may well send out another e-mail next week. PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND ANY ENTRY REVISIONS TO JASON CHINN AS SOON AS KNOWN. chinn@ntlworld.com Right, see you on the 5th! Tim CT RBRR
  3. Doug: If you need to fit a pedal, I have one you can borrow. Chris Witor does the re-inforcement bracket that will need to be fixed on engine side of the bulkhead. Others may well say that you can bodge the mk1 rod linkeage to work, I bow to their superior knowledge.
  4. Welcome to the merry world of Club Triumph and this forum. Wheel the old car out and take a snap, looks an interesting car. Why the 6 pot installation?
  5. I know, we were disappointed when Nigel produced the mileage. We looked at the route to see what we could do, nothing I'm afraid.
  6. Colin, They will be on sale as from Sunday's meeting. BTW I know nothing about a RBRR page on Facebook, but then thinking about it I would not as I do not subscribe to F'book.
  7. Andy, We have decided against it this time. Funnily enough since the 'Recession', the green debate seems to have slipped peoples minds! The RBRR was Carbon Neutral for two years 2006 and 2008. In fact, it was the first 'Green' old car event in the uk. I can see the argument from people, and when one thinks about it we would all be better off giving the money we spend to the Charity and staying at home, but that is hardly fun! Oh well.
  8. Just to add my penny worth, we have 20 controls this time, so it is vitally important to keep up with the pace of the event. All timings are based upon driving the route using a Herald. Don't panic though and no need to cut sections of the route out. Remember that we ask that all Controls are visited. Keep in touch with the Central Control: Nigel Abdullah by text if having issues. Remember he has 100 or so cars to think about, so texts must include entry number. Please do not think that the RBRR is a piece of cake, it needs some thought and planning. Believe it or not the event is good fun, a proper Triumph fest!
  9. I think Colin is correct, 6J were a optional extra. Always some available. Tom Keys has a set for sale.
  10. Er, same as late July!!! 'The trip to CLM proved that the old Saloon needs some attention: UJs to Prop. Finally get the throttle linkeage sorted-this has been a pita since purchase in '94. Tune the car Sort out some of the rust that is starting to show its ugly head. Usual places: NSR wheel arch and NSF wheel arch. Dashboard wiring bodge Otherwise just make the car look smart.' Just cannot see me doing this.
  11. Totally agree with Jason and Colin. Anyone doing the event in a GT6 will know where I am coming from. All the parts one needs can be fitted in a small bag.
  12. Quite a few CT types use this already. Jason C will discuss this at the DM. By the way, ain't it nice to see someone happy with their eyepad!
  13. michael wrote: FOL51L i presume regards michael Got to be eh! Mike C's getting a bit cocky following Philip's great result in the CT a'solo. We will see, we will see next year!
  14. Not sure about all this HID malarkey. My saloon has a set of Cibie Oscars as spots, blooming brilliant. As for KC daylighters, those spot that are loved by the Land Rover 4WD people, are'nt they illegal on a road car. (Steve, not trying to be a smart alec, just intrigued)
  15. Here you go. Obviously has to be simple owing to the 2000 miles we will cover, all types of roads are used from Motorways down to single track roads in the Highlands. No tricks or anything, just clear instructions with the aim of hoping that no cars get lost. Some of the roads make for great driving, for example the return leg from JOG down to Stirling is excellent fun. The route used has been subjected to constant evolution since the event started, the biggest change being in 2000 when Welsh roads were first used, the Saturday had become a fast dash from Stirling to Indian Queens on the A30 in Cornwall using either motorways or fast dual carriageways. This was both boring and very tiring! Something needed to be done to spice the event up, and it was decided to go over to Oswestry and down through Ludlow, Hereford, Monmouth to cross the Severn bridge and get to Bristol/Gordano. I always find it mind boggling to think that one is in Stirling at 18.00hrs on the Saturday and we have to get to Lands End and then back to Crews Hill for the finish 24or so hours later.
