  1. Triumph eh, what a company never frightened to look at new ideas and then leave the customer to do the testing! Probably a good thing that they never introduced the twin cam engine as it may have blighted the TR range? As for the shape, how about Anita Ekberg, phew! Blimey, Bob Dylan mentioned her in song, she must have been 'Of the moment'. The trouble with Dors and Mansfield was that they seem so suburban, wheras Monroe, Taylor, Gardner etc seem so exotic.
  2. James Cooper has a royal blue mk1 bonnet that I sold to him, might be interested in moving it on?
  3. Rallyspit, I will send some pics over at the weekend. Picton did my car, so cannot state how it was done.
  4. Thanks Chris and Paudman. Will call Chic Doig. Thanks Paudman, the mk4/1500 brackets are longer and the wrong profile. Going back to the original look, just rather it. Decided to re-fit the rear bumpers, these were last on the car back in 1984!!! Not that I'd sell the old car, but want to make her look standard-ish which would increase the chance of selling etc. My mk2 Spitfire is 'bumperless' and will stay that way, although I love the look of the mk1 and 2 Spits with the low bumpers. The GT6 has been through various incarnations during my time with her, part of the fun of these old cars.
  5. My GT6 goes into Picton Sportscars next week to have the front bumper and associated gubbins fitted. Does anyone have the following parts to hand: 712564 Spring Bar RHS 712563 Spring Bar LHS 712566 Rear Bumper Support RHS 712565 Rear Bumper Support LHS Also, need a good condition front bumper assy if anyone has one, £300 from Rimmers-gawd! Left this all abit late, but taking advantage of a situation. Thinking, I may end of having to find a Triumph breaker-are there any left?
  6. I had them fitted to my mk2, however never enjoyed the ride quality. Had new mounts fitted-much better. Seriously think about repairing the mounts.
  7. Blimey, I need to sell these parts to raise money for the GT6 bonnet conversion that is happening in a week or so!! Andy: You need to buy my driveshafts.
  8. Andy, I have the following; 2no Shafts with fubar rotoflexs 2no Complete driveshaftt units. PM if interested. Can bring to Stoneleigh.
  9. Paul, No, still awaiting either cheques or knowledge about how much many have raised. Always the case!
  10. Best to run a fuel filter before the fuel pump and maybe one before the carbs as well, swarf will cause probs.
  11. Hi Graham, When your Virgin page closes or expires the amount raised will transfer to CWC. Please let me know how much you have raised. Tim
  12. Undo the 2no RH bolts and leave loose, them you should find that the LH bolts will go in. If not. elongate the holes using a file.
  13. Tim, Think long and hard about a bumperless front. I really regret having that done to mine, a bad mistake by me. Will rectify sometime and fit the rear bumpers back on. Like the spec you have chosen, totally agree about using a 2.0L lump, I agree with James Carruthers about this in that sports cars should be revvy and the GT6/Vitesse 2.0L lump is the best iteration of the Triumph six cylinder engine. I have a spare 2.0 short engine now and intend to build up a lovely free revving engine. Something to be done when funds allow. I am looking forward to seeing how you get on with it all, keep us all informed with your progress. Especially looking forward to seeing some of the trick alloy parts that you will fabricate.
  14. Good luck with the rebuild Tim, I hope all goes well and that you end up with another superb example of these underrated cars. Any idea of the mods that you will implement or will she be a standard car?
  15. I agree with Laurence, I have had no problem with them. Only thing I don't agree with is that the package states that one will not get brake dust, umm, that's not true. Otherwise a reasonable pad.
  16. Roger, I have one on the saloon and have fitted it off the cross member and angled down towards the ground to collect air, would go out and take a snap, but its blasted chilly tonight!! How long before we see the Pi over here?
  17. My mk1 has 185 15/55 Contis on it, seem great. Hate silly wide tyres, rubbish in the wet, that seems important these days!
  18. This year's event was a weird one, the driveshaft failure that the Herald/Vitesse cars suffered was most odd. I still think it is daft to do the RBRR or 10CR without a spare alternator and a spare fuel pump. Thanks Martin for the stats.
  19. Chats, Send me the link and I will pay! Mike, Er, well done! Still if it helps the GT6 maintain its appearance and condition, all good.
  20. Ed Airport: As Dave states, a prestigious stop and one I think is better than say Kinross Services a bit further up the road on the M90. TR Reg, Didcot: I cannot see a problem with Didcot. The location is only a few miles away from the A34. CT and the TR Reg have always got on, and I think little arrangements like that help. Thanks, Chris and all other TR Reg staff for helping CT out. I'd love it if the RBRR could visit the TSSC HQ at Lubenham, unfortunately that location is to far inland. Sixpenny Handley: Not impressed at all. Despite John Snook's efforts, we needed space to park cars and there was not enough. I will press for us to visit Pimperne again, and I will work out the cake issue. Big thanks to Nick, John, James and Mike. All the others are fine and I see no need to change them. I will be writing to all the establishments that helped CT to thank them.
  21. Chats, Ditchfinders.........................Truely shocking!!! My word! Get DEL33 back on the road and take it to Europe on the 10CR, damm the scratches, in fact damm the flies, just use the thing!
  22. Anyone care to mention the moment that they enjoyed the most over the weekend's motoring? Only one as it must be the BEST one! Mine: Sitting in the side seat listening to my Ipod that was on shuffle play and was playing 'A Northern Soul' by The Verve as Dave was (finally) giving the car some stick following Dale Barker in his Harold and Laurence Jones in his TR6. I was totally knackered at this point and the road lights and (road) speed started to blur/dance about, it was a trip! Think we were near Manchester, also memorable as a very pretty girl out with her fella in his (I Suppose) Mitsubshi drove past smiling away and giving us the thumbs up-good girl! A bit of a mindblast as I usually get bored rigid by motorways. Dave admitted to me that later on over the weekend, that the saloon gets better at higher speeds, when I say higher speeds I mean 70mph, of course!
  23. Jeez, the obligatory RBRR AJP/Homer urine film!!! BTW whats with the Memphis Belle look?
  24. Get Dave Kent to get his lovely Spitfire ready! Oh yeah, and ensure that he does not buy the Maiden!
