  1. With out sounding rude, not much of a market for secondhand vertical links. Good luck with the repairs.
  2. Looking forward to getting stuck into the 2014 event. Can now say that RBRR2012 is over! Well done everyone connected with the event: Entrants, Marshals, Charity People, and Caterers! Massive thanks to my CT Colleagues: Nigel Abdullah, Jason Chinn, Andy Martin and Dave Langrick. Big value cheque to Children With Cancer and lots of fun driving the event: Mission accomplished eh! Thank you all. RBRR: Running Reliably Since 1966...............................
  3. Jim, I am hoping we can use Carter Bar again? RBRR2012 is more or less over. Started to think about RBRR2014, gawd and indeed, blimey! When are we gonna get the 'Lambrini Tales'. About time you wrote one of your infamous short stories? Tim
  4. Gonna ask Keith if we can have a Lambrini section of the Forum. Might keep a few amused!!! ;D

Here is a pic of my car, with 5.5J solid steels. (As always I must thank Cliftyhangar for these, cheers Clive)
  6. 10 thou is for a std camshaft, if you have a 'performance' camshaft, larger clearances.
  7. In the vain attempt to a)to return this thread to its original topic and b) inform. All the Awards have now been posted. Thank you.
  8. The cost of postage is built into the event entry cost, so not worried. Can't see how we could get them all out to Entrants without using the post system. Please note that we only send them to the main entrant. Unfortunately, so few come to the CT Dinner, and therby reduce the cost of the postage. I reckon we will have sent out 50% by post. Theo: Yours is in the post. The event does make a profit. I hope that we will not raise the cost of entry next time. Biggest cost of the RBRR is the catering.
  9. All waiting to receive their RBRR Finishers Awards, these will be posted out this week. Sorry for the delay, no excuses other than being busy!
  10. Personally, I'd go for a oil pressure gauge as fitted to early Minis and get a capillary temp gauge, two gauges, but better as easier to read! I have that format fitted to my GT6 and 2.5, easy and nice.
  11. Be careful, some dodgy examples out there, fit can be loose-buy from a good supplier-Canleys for example.
  12. http://www.wilshers-garages.com/ Peter Baldwin at Wilshers used to be a recognised SU expert. A very successful Mini racer. Seem to remember that he did marvels with Nigel Gair's revvy 2000 mk2 saloon.
  13. Alan,: Is it an Equipe with a 4 or 6 cylinder lump in it? BTW I entered the Shere Hillclimb event in the saloon!
  14. I'm just looking forward to seeing the car!
  15. On my mk2 Spit I have a set of 5.5J steels, had them painted in light grey, suit the car. Pale blue is the colour of the car.
  16. Totaly agree with the last two postings-stay 13'' and use 175/70 13 rubber!
  17. [quote=uksnatcher]Its no biggy, the poor old sod is a 'bitsa' (like most of the CT owners cars are) ....:) Gary, How dare you!
  18. Def. agree with Nick's comments. Swing spring is ok and is cheap, however I do not like the slightly detached feeling one gets with that system, it sometimes feels like the rear axles are deflected when one hits a bump. Not enough location. I'd say go for the CV system coupled with Rotoflex vertical links and lower wishbones. Also, spend money on quality rear shock absorbers.
  19. £90 a car, £45 each. Might invest. Look to be a good option. Thanks Andy.
  20. All, Looks like the CT  'solo will happen in Mid July. Matt H is speaking with the Bovingdon airfield owners about dates at the mo and I am sure will report back soon. So, expect to see something soon. A brilliant day that will hopfully see a few new cars plus hopefully a few members who have not attempted this sport. Tim
  21. Not quite fit and forget, watch the boots-rubber will eventually perish. However I am very pleased with the Canley CV shafts, excellent bit of kit. Like the fact that it uses a bit of Triumph kit. Mine were one of the first sold, all been good and have been subjected to some serious use.
  22. malcty wrote:I have done 4 RBRR`s in my vitesse. Only 2 persons each time. I and my co-drivers are all well over the retirement age and have completed all 4 with no problems. Have the car thoroughly checked and go out and enjoy yourselves. You know it makes sense.Malc. Excellent words! Hear, hear!
  23. Derek Pollock's words in the latest edition of 'Club Torque', are spot on. I don't think the event is dangerous and the stats back it up, only 4 cars have been severely damaged and none of them have been because of sleep deprivation. The main problem with the event is that crews do not rest up during the days up to the event. I am as guilty of this as others, however in my case that will be because I have some last minute RBRR issue to deal with. So sleep before the event and keep up with the pace of the event, there you go! I may well enter the 2014 event using the Spitfire, would be fun to see how it would be, can't see the problem. 3.89 diff, overdrive, 13'' 70 profile tyres, GT6 seats? Dale Barker has done about 15 RBRRs, the majority in Harold, his Herald Convertible.
