I was looking for a longer one for an old Paddy Hopkirk that was going into a mk 3 spit, did ask Canley Classics for a 3.4 inch one (believe it was used on some TR6) as an alternative to the standard 2.6 inch one. They did not have any stock, but advised me to try a company called TRGB. They had stock. *edit* 5,5 cm is still less than the standard horn pencil... Cheers, Jens

Only worked on a mk2 gt6 (okay, was an US-import, so GT6+), but quite sure its an earlier repair.

Very nice work You are doing; will be a great car when finished. Btw - chromed sill seam finisher was made of stainless steel and added after paint. Don't know if they were extra though.

Bought from Paddock last year for a mk 3 spitfire project, complete kit - in copper though - but came with R309 hoses and olives etc.

Dogleg? Yep. Lots of bad panels available. Make sure your door has not been badly repaired in the past though.

Okay, thanks a lot - will try to ask the tire fitter what is available - I am using 175/70 13 on my minilites and pleased with them; but this is for one of my other projects though. Its a 'very locally' place only serving moderns.

What would you recommend on a standard 4,5'' original spitfire 1500 wheel? Have trouble finding 165/70 R13 here locally - can it take a 175/70 13 - or is it too wide?

@Iain: I believe you have done no harm to the rear brakes; but you can always take off the drum and look at rubber parts etc. But they should have bedded in by now 😎

No, its from an US ebay auction years ago - I kept the pictures as the tub was very original - although the car was fitted with mk 4/1500 doors..

Yep, that's it! They were part of the approval for MOT here in Denmark, might have been due to the old - and very thick - numberplates used then. Used in some states in US/Canada too. Most destroyed in crashes I believe! I have a few NOS ones here bought via ebay and locally. German ones ugly (IMHO)! See picture... I have had some success using the front bumper/overrider seal bought at Bill/Rarebits (he sells it in 0,5meter, i.e. uncut) - most of the other traiders cut them down for the overriders. Not perfect - but close. http://www.rarebits4classics.net/#!product/prd12/3734668591/overrider-sealing-strip---0.5-metre (don't know why no picture comes up, did a few months ago). Haven't got a picture of mine to show, sorry. You probably still have these seals on your front bumper, so you can check the profile.

Hi Hazen, The 'plint' is the extension on the backside of the numberplate lamp (first picture above); sorry, couldn't find a better word... its not a part of the lamp itself. Take a look at the spare part catalogue (e.g. at vitessesteves homepage, if you do not already have a copy - you might have to look in the mk 3 spitfire one ). In germany they had to use one for two lamps mounted side by side. You will need a seal up to the rear valance; I could use one for the front bumper/overrider bought at Bill/Rarebits as he sells them uncut. Will try to take a picture of mine when I get home from work.
